Jane's Academy of Dance Excellence

My daughter danced at this studio since she was two years old and she is now four. The first two seasons were fine. The last season however, was not. I paid for a $50 shoutout to be placed in the recital program so that myself, family, and friends could have a keepsake of her special day. The day of the recital I noticed the shoutout wasn't in the program. I immediately notified the owner via email. Initially, she was very apologetic and ensured I would receive a refund and that she would have the program reprinted......this was in June. It is now November and I have been contacting the owner, Jane, for months. My numerous emails have gone ignored along with my phone calls in which I am guaranteed someone will contact me soon. I have a full time job and follow up is not easy for me. Well today, 11/3/2016, almost 5 months to the date later, after several calls, I was emailed not called, that there is a no refund policy. I'm assuming there are also no programs being printed either. This is extremely unprofessional. I had family travel from near and far to see my daughter perform and this was a disappointment to say the least. We will never return to this studio and I encourage you to look elsewhere to meet your child's dance needs. Find a place that is honest and values there loyal customers.

This lady will not stop contacting me. She billed me after I left her studio for competition fees through the end of the season when we left because of racial remarks made by the owner herself, Jane Stewart, her baby daughter and her niece. She charged me for classes that my daughter was supposed to get scholarships for and she continues to harass me through email. She is very rude and unprofessional. She is not discreet in anyway so don't provide her with confidential info, the whole studio will know about it before your child's next class. Not to mention her 12 year old daughter teaches classes, I was livid when I found out she was the only instructor in an acro class. The youngest daughter is the ultimate Queen B, but she gets it from her momma.

Oh where to start?! The owner has a very bad/poor attitude as well as her daughters (the teachers). She's very unorganized and over charges on everything. Her classes, costumes and even to sign them up for competitions. She gossips with some parents and will even make comments about your kid if they don't dance as they expect. Her daughters "the teachers" only went to a "fine arts" school and that qualified them to become dance teachers and get paid about $20 an hour. You will ALWAYS be able to tell who they favor. Is always the same people getting special parts in the ballet as you can imagine HER DAUGHTERS! I wouldn't recommend this type of atmosphere for you or your kids. You will regret it if you take your kids to this place.

As a former dancer at Jane's, I learned proper technique and to never give up. I was in intermediate ballet, beginning pointe, and intermediate jazz. I have moved to Mississippi, and dancing at Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet. Thanks to Miss Courtney, Miss Maegan, and Miss Rachel I have joined a ballet company and have successfully achieved my dream.

Both of my girls dance at this studio. We have really enjoyed it! Great teachers! My daughters have both grown significantly!

After reading some of the unfavorable comments left here, I have to give my thoughts of JADE. My daughter has been dancing for 6 years with Jane. We followed her from another studio. She has ALWAYS been kind and supportive to my child. She goes out of her way to make my daughter feel special and good about herself. As long as Jane is in business, we will be at her studio. The small class sizes are wonderful. All the girls get a chance to shine. It saddens me that anyone would criticize such a wonderful studio.

Funny, it might be Jane but even if its not it says courtney stewart, who is Mrs. Jane's daughter which how much credit are your going to give that review considering she is Jane's daughter and she has also been employeed by Jane since she was 14, wonder what kind of expertise instruction you will be getting by her, but she is 16 now. Don't know about you, but she is overpriced and then paying a teenager to teach definately doesn't make you feel like you are getting your money's worth.

Really? Beware-as you all know, there's always some truth to every story! Use your own judgement.

All of these opinions totally make sense, except for the ones totally bashing this studio. I understand thinking that Jane favors her kids, but only when they look awful and that is her being a teacher correcting them!!!.. Now, every single student recieves attention and that is because they care! At this studio they want to see children succeed in what they love. Everyone here tries, and loves dancing. If they didnt, they wouldnt go here. It is as simple as that. So, when you are searching for a dance studio, go to the one that makes your children and yourself happy. Don't pay attention to these people that have issues with people that succeed.

We're happy with our daughter's classes. Really clean and spacious rooms. Family friendly.

I'm not sure where these other people got their information since the studio just opened in Sept. 08 and they reviewed it a month later. I'm sure they were not even students. Anyway, I have two daughters who dance there. They have been thrilled with their classes. The teachers are well educated and experienced in their subjects. I have been to other local studios and we were over-charged for bad classes with teachers who didn't care. Not so at all at this studio. The classes are small right now and that's even better for my girls! And they are doing a production of Cinderella in recital!!! How awesome is that!

I would not take my child to this studio. Proper techique is not taught. If you waste your money here your daughter will fall very behind. The owner plays favorites and is very rude.
