Teeth Cleaning
We use Piezo scalers for most adult dental cleanings. This tool uses ultrasonic vibrations to help breakdown plaque and calculus on the teeth that cause gingivitis and periodontal disease. The ultrasonic cleaners create microscopic bubbles that implode on the surface of the tooth, killing microbes and removing plaque and tartar. The thin tip helps us better navigate in the periodontal pockets helping you maintain optimal gingival health.

Root Canal Treatment
Being a biomimetic dentist, one of our primary goals is to avoid and minimize the chances of needing a root canal. Sometimes a tooth needs root canal therapy. Dr. Eng performs root canal therapy. If a tooth has a more complex situation, he will refer the patient to specialists we have worked with for decades.

Periodontal Surgery
2. The dental endoscope reveals that significant calculus remains on the root after closed debridement (30-50%) that is not detectable with an explorer. This calculus contains lacuna that harbor microorganisms, including bacteria that initiate periodontal infections. Removal of bacteria-laden calculus is conducive to healing and should remain the primary goal of periodontal instrumentation. Failure to remove undetected calculus impedes healing of the pocket, resulting in the need for further root planing or periodontal surgery.

Braces
Dr. Eng was born and raised in southern California, in the city of Los Angeles in what is better known as the ghetto, 48th and Hoover was south central LA just 11 blocks south of USC. His dad was a mechanical engineer and mom was a seamstress. The family was poor but his parents worked hard and gave everything to their kids and family. Eventually Dr. Eng's family moved to the Crenshaw area and he spent his life there prior to college. He attended Dorsey High School, and played football and tennis. During his first year playing football, his mom told him "You have to stop playing football." When Dr. Eng inquired as to why, she replied, "Because you just got braces and I don't want them to get ruined." So football was short lived, but tennis (as the safer and mom-approved sport!) was played throughout high school. The varsity tennis team competed as one of the top 3 teams in the city for the 4 years in high school.
