BE AWARE!!!!

BE AWARE!!!! Tanner sold me on fixing my vehicle transmission and only to find out that they couldn't figure out how to fix. After 20 plus days of my vehicle being out of service the told me that they cant get it to work. Drove the vehicle into the shop only to be told i need to tow it off. I did receive my refund after dealing with the BBB and Other agencies. Took my vehicle to another shop and was done in 3 day and $300 cheaper. Please be aware of this company. They have really bad reviews on BBB website and they are constantly getting sued. I was told by other companies they are a bad option. You have been warned!

Stuck with their quote

Paying a huge amount of money to replace your transmission is never happy, but Blaine made it as nice as it could be They got it done in time and stuck with their quote.

Steer Clear of Tanner Transmissions

We had our transmission replaced one year ago. We decided to replace the clutch since we were in there, though the clutch was not bad. It took 2 1/2 months to get "fixed". They blamed everyone else and took no ownership. The delivery system lost the transmission, then the next one didn't fit the axle right and leaked. One year later, my bearing in my new clutch is squeaking, I have to replace the clutch. And my transmission still leaks. The kicker is they put off repairing it while under warranty so now I need to replace it again, full cost. Rest assured, I will not take my car to Tanner again. Save yourself a nightmare and do the same!

Never Fixed my Car but still charged me

I brought my car in because my clutch was losing pressure and wouldn't engage. I pulled it up and they pop the hood and say ya that's going to be a fly wheel, How would you know if it needs a new flywheel without looking, any way long story short the install a new flywheel, but they car is worse its almost impossible to change from 2nd to 3rd and the gear shifter is super stiff, so I take it back to have them fix it, then I go back to pick it up and they say o we also noticed now this other part which was super cheap and had everything to do with the original problem. When I asked to see the old part they said they threw it away. I said give me the car I take it to a dealer they pull the flywheel which was aftermarket and installed horribly according to mark miller but they charged me the price of a new flywheel. These guys are so incompetent its scary. The fact their still in business is so concerning. They have numerous complaints with other review sites.

My neighbors recommend that I give Tanner Transmission a call

My old Ford F-150 4X4 transmission finally died. So I check around to get it replaced. I check out 2 other shops that fix and re-build transmissions. My neighbors recommend that I give Tanner Transmission a call, as he had his wife’s car fixed by them like 7 years ago and still no problems. So I ended up at Tanner and I bought their Ownership transmission, that’s supposed to be good for as long as you own the vehicle. You can’t transfer it to a new owner but I didn’t care, cause I’m keeping my old truck. Could have got a three year transmission for about 3K but I chose to go with the more expensive ownership warranty, because like I said; I have had this Great Ford Truck for 20 years come 2012, let’s see if I can get another 200,000 miles out of the old gal with this new transmission from Tanner. We shall see. Here’s why the review. I picked my truck at the beginning of the month and it ran great but all of a sudden it started to stick between 2nd and third. So I took it

I Really Do Feel Good About Going To Tanner Transmissions

So it’s Black Friday and my car is in the transmission shop waiting to get it’s transmission fixed. Just what I wanted for Christmas, a big transmission bill. So why the review? I just got a call from Jerry down at the Taylorsville location of Tanner Transmissions and instead of needing a new transmission on my Mazda MDX I get to replace a couple of parts and labor for $950.00. I had to agree to a $650.00 inspection to take it apart which to tell the truth I was not nuts about but because they did the internal inspection I ended up not needing a new transmission for over $3500.00. So good decision in the end. So why am I happy everyone I talked to, dealers and other transmission shops were sure it was a complete waste of a transmission but like I said I got away lucky. Tanner could have made a bunch of money but they were honest. They had to sell me on the idea of getting the inspection that cost money buy because everyone and myself were sure that the transmission was shoot why not ?

Superior Automotive Wisdom and Customer Focus.

I usually never provide recommendations or reviews. However, for Tanner Transmissions I will make sure to go out of my way to recommend their services to anyone needing a mechanic. I had a crazy issue with my transmission and ABS system that would intermittently engage when braking normally. This was a huge problem and no one could diagnose the root cause. I was actually told by another mechanic that I was lying the ABS system was fine. Jim had my vehicle one day, invested the time to test drive my car till the problem happened again. They he identified and replaced a faulty brake sensor within a few hours and had the car back to me with no issues. Tanner Transmissions are professional, reliable mechanics you can trust.

Highly Recommended

My daughter was told she needed a new transmission for her car and asked for my assistance. We phoned a friend who recommended Tanner Transmission, in Taylorsville. The service was prompt, accurate and they replaced the only 1 (one) part that was needed, which was not a complete new transmission. I am thankful for their honesty and great reputation. While waiting for the repair, I noticed each and every customer enter with a smile and leave the same way. I recommend their service to anyone in Utah that needs transmission repair or transmission maintenance my little girls 2004 Honda Civic is doing just great now.

Dodge Ram Diesel Truck Owners ...

Dodge Ram Diesel Truck Owners This Is The Place. My 2006 Ram Diesel all of a sudden starting making some real bad sounds. I had about 120,000 miles on the truck and was doing a lot of hauling with it. When the transmission started to make noise I took it my regular mechanic to have him take a look. He placed it up on the rack and not seeing anything external that might be making the noise, he took it on a drive and sure enough it was the transmission he said. Oh boy... time to spend some real money. I ask for a recommendation from Jake my mechanic and he said that he had a transmission in his own Ford Diesel rebuilt by Tanner Transmission in Ogden and suggested that I give then a call. So that's what I did. Call The Taylorsville location and spoke with Jerry the manager he told me to come in and let his guys take a look. I arrived told him the sound I was hearing and what my guy said might be the problem. He asked his mechanic to cover the phones for 10 minutes while both He & I took it out for a test drive. First I drove and he listened and then he drove it, and did some brake on while standing still, trying to accelerate and it really made noise. He told me that he believed that the whole unit including the torque converter was unfortunately shot. He gave me three options by a new transmission or a rebuilt transmission or take the transmission apart and see if it could be fixed. If I took the last option he would have to charge me $695.00 to remove and diagnose the transmission. Tanner would then apply that amount to the repair if they repaired the transmission. If I went to the dealer or another shop and they replace the transmission I would still have to pay the $695.00. I decided to get a new Tanner transmission with the ownership warranty good for as long as I own my truck. Along with a lifetime warranty they gave me free transmission fluid changes every year a power flush oil transmission fluid change. The transmission was not cheap, I paid just under $5,500.00. But I will never have to pay for transmission repair again. Here's the reason for the great review I told them how I treat my truck all the towing and “mud fun” and they installed a transmission cooler for free. How about that. It's tough to feel god about a 5K+transmission repair but better to know I won't have to pay for it again. Would suggest anyone with a Dodge Diesel to give Tanner Transmissions a call. Absolute 1st Choice For Transmissions in Utah

I had them swap out the old and do modifications for new 5-speed w/overdrive tranny in my classic 69 Mach1. They treated that car with kid gloves and it all works perfectly. More recently they put a new clutch in my 05 Tacoma. Their price was better than either of the Toyota dealers I contacted for exact same job and parts. I highly recommend them for their quality and honesty and pride in their work. Plus they have been around for 50 + years and I tryst he work hat they do.

Helped My Moms with her Transm...

Helped My Moms with her Transmission Problem, My mom brought in her 04 BMW 3 Series it had a slipping transmission problem. We saw that Tanner Transmission offered a free diagnostic. My moms BMW had an aftermarket warranty. The warranty company did not want honor the full repair. Tanner got on the phone with them and got the repairs covered. Tanner fixed the problem and all is well. The extra mile with the warranty company is the reason for the review. Thanks Tanner Transmissions.

Made my Dakota Like New, Fair ...

Made my Dakota Like New, Fair on Price Had my 06 Dakota V-8 serviced at Tanners Shop in Sandy. Other transmission repair shops in the area spent like 5 minutes with my truck saw it was slipping and said I needed a complete rebuilt transmission at around $3,500. Tanner was the only one that took time to ask me questions about what my car was doing, drove it, did a computer scan, pressure, test and looked at the pan and fluids. Took them almost 3 hours, but at least he tried everything they could to fix it instead of just getting me a replacement. It needed repaired. All said and done I got a good warranty, much less than anywhere else. Felt like I really understood what my car needed after Tanner Transmission was done fixing my car.

Tanner Transmissions Saved Memorial Day For My Family

Tanner Transmissions Saved Memorial Day For My Family & Me. My family owns a 2000 Safari Continental. The transmission went bad just before we were headed out of Salt Lake City. We got a hold of Tanner transmissions downtown on State Street. Told them our situation and they got the Safari in right away. Long story short they stayed until 6:30 on Friday so we could have a three-day weekend. Thank you for saving Memorial Day for My Family & Me. I'm gong to let everyone know on-line. June SLC

I Can't Belive It.

Tanner asked me to write a review. I said yes here's why. My regular mechanic told me my transmission was shoot in my 99, F-150. I took it to Tanner and they found out it was an electrical, computer problem $250.00 and out the door. I came in thinking I need to spend 2K and it was only 10% of that. Yes I would recommend Tanner to anyone.
