I would describe it as a "boutique motel". It is about 5 miles from downtown Seattle, and is much less expensive than the hotels downtown, and the parking is free. You can drive to Seattle or take the water taxi, which has a free shuttle stop in front of the motel to get you to the departure point. Our room was clean and had a microwave and mini fridge. The beds were very comfortable and the black out blinds worked well. Great continental breakfast, with fresh fruit, yogurt and cereal choices. Not enough on-site parking for guests if the place is full, as it was the night we stayed- beware if you are out late; you may have to park on the street and walk a bit. Great restaurants less than a mile away on California Street. Overall, very pleasant place to stay and the location and price make it a real value.

Our family of four spent three nights here, the first was the best sleep (maybe because we had just finished traveling for the last 20+ hours with very little sleep). The room was clean, although small. The bathroom was tiny. I could stand in the middle and touch all four walls with my arms outstretched. A continental breakfast was included ... a selection of cereals, hard boiled eggs, bananas, bagels, English muffins, small Danish and a selection of juices.
The friendly staff, filling breakfast and quiet sleep made up for the lack of space.

We stayed one night when attending an event in West Seattle. Everything was very clean, and the staff most accommodating. The breakfast room (opened for us for a pre-event evening gathering), offered an ample Continental breakfast and a place for our group to gather before departing. We would stay at The Grove again.

The Grove struck me as a budget motel operated by a family determined to manage it exceptionally well. Picture the layout of a run-of-the-mill Super 8 or Motel 6, in the hands of people eager to run it like the Trump Tower. You get a free buffet, and it's a _better_ buffet, with several goodies not usually found in the free morning offerings at other hotels. You get a clean, quiet room, but it's a _better_ clean, quiet room. Someone put in some real care in choosing the furnishings.

Everyone at the Grove in West Seattle were very friendly and helpful. This Inn is very reasonable in price and Very convenient to downtown Seattle by way of the water taxi. the fee for the taxi was like 3.00 for each way and gives a phenomenal view of Seattle as you approach arrival. It drops you off right downtown and from that point you can easily see everything by foot or tram. The Grove has very nice rooms with nice decorations and mattresses. The breakfast has fresh fruit yogurts and all the other breakfast bar choices. The rooms are the size of the original hotel that was renovated by the ingenous people who thought of saving this site.So the rooms might be a bit small to some people but my family did not have a problem at all with room size. Besides you have so many things to do and see in Seattle that you will not be there except to sleep. And again the mattresses were very comfortable so you will get a great night's sleep so that you can get out and see more the next day.i will always stay here while visiting Seattle!!

Nice remodel of an old hotel. Beds comfortable, good amenities. Great location to west Seattle and Downtown at an affordable price.

Recently renovated. Clean, modern decor. Location close to everything in West Seattle. Did not use but comes with continental breakfast. All the staff from front desk to the housekeeping staff were very friendly. Will stay here again.

The room was clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
The continental breakfast had decent selection, and was neat and clean.
Free parking. Noise mentioned by others wasn't really an issue.
