Ipp's Pastaria & Bar

Have you ever shown up to a place you really love, wait in line for over an hour, and watch someone else (without a reservation either) walk right in and be seated immediately? Yep! That happened to us last night at Ipp's in Woodstock! Read on if you like. After a long drive from Norcross (where we live) we arrived at Ipp's at 6:45pm on 3/7/15. We were told up front it would be at least 40-45 min wait time on a table. We have been here before so we were ok with it. At 8pm, another couple arrived and were immediately recognized by one of the staff members. I am not sure if the staff member was management or the owner but she was the only one not wearing the "Ipp's" T shirt and was in a black and white dress taking care of select people within the restaurant. She made it clear that she was definitely in charge when she totally ignored the waiting list and skipped all 4 parties ahead of us to seat this couple immediately. Thirty minutes later, we finally were seated right across from the 'VIP" couple, all the while watching this "manager" continually check on them in addition to their server taking care of their needs. Just for clarification, the food here is ALWAYS amazing and well worth the wait. Our server was outstanding as usual also! This poor rating is strictly against the sorry manager on duty that night. She was blonde, heavy set, and wore glasses. She is the SOLE reason we will NOT be back! After leaving the restaurant, I wanted to be sure of something before I made this post. I called the restaurant from the parking lot and asked the person that answered if we could make a reservation at Ipp's for next time. I already knew they weren't listed with "Open Table" so I wanted to make sure the couple inside hadn't made a reservation without me realizing it. The man on the phone replied, "We only do 'call aheads' for parties of 6 and over". DONE!
