Moreland's Guttering

I hired Moreland’s Guttering in Winchester, VA to install new gutters and downspouts on a second home that I own. The morning of June 17th, 2021, they did the installation. Later that day I stopped by the property and there were numerous gutters and downspouts that looked very unprofessional. That afternoon, I called the company and spoke with the owner. I calmly started explaining why I was dissatisfied. He became incredibly angry and condescending. The call ended when he said to me, “you are about the most ignorant person I’ve ever heard, goodbye” and then he hung up. Befittingly, I don’t want to have him and his personality on my property ever again. I legally recorded our conversation, and it is proof of what happened. I took pictures of the worst looking sections.

On or about June 29, 2021, I sent the owner of Moreland’s Guttering a letter explaining my experience with his company. I also sent printed pictures showing their poor workmanship, and a copy of the recorded conversation I had with the owner of the company on the same day of the installation. He didn’t respond to my letter, photos, or our recorded phone conversation.

It’s odd that Moreland’s Guttering has mostly complimentary reviews on the internet. However, if the owner responds to complaints from some customers the way he did for me, I can understand why those customers may be intimated enough to avoid any further interaction with him and avoid giving his company a negative review. No one should have an inferior gutter installation and then have severe intimidation tactics used against them.

On July 30, 2021, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). As of September 18, 2021, Moreland’s Guttering has totally ignored two separate requests from the BBB trying to mediate my complaint. As of September 22, 2021, the company has a poor rating of D+ on BBB’s website. To see the rating, you must search for accredited AND non-accredited businesses. If you search Moreland’s Guttering in accredited businesses only, Moreland’s Guttering won’t be listed.

These guys are great. I thought I needed a new gutter and after speaking to Ronald on a Monday night he came out on Wednesday. He had given me the best quote and after speaking with him on the phone I felt he was a professional businessman that certainly deserved my business. He showed up, got on the roof and told me I already had top of the line gutters and the problem was just debris. So he and his helper cleaned all my gutters and using the hose he tested them for correct operation. He only charged me $40 but because of his honesty and integrity as well as he saving me the cost of a new gutter I gave him more than that. I would certainly recommend him to anyone for either gutter replacement or gutter cleaning. He is local to the Winchester area and has been in business for 40 years he told me.

One of the best contractors I have had in a long time-I would highly recommend him.
