Overall
Expertise
Facility
Professionalism

Unprofessional staff, rude, under trained. The facility is dirty. Many of the things there are broken including doors to patient rooms that prevent them being opened in a timely manner or at all. The elevators permits are out of date from 2015. They ignore alarms.

They do not communicate well with each other. No one reads the charts. No one fills them out anyway expect to put "checked patient". Quality of care is constantly below standards. When you ask questions or for them to clean something they say they will but do not follow through or follow up with if it happened out not.

They constantly have new people in to take care of patients that have no idea what they are doing because either they have never taken care of that patient before or have never find that treatment before. I honestly had someone treating my brother surprised to know my brother was in a coma. I will say it again, the person treating my brother did not know he was in a coma. They did not know the main reason they were treating him for.

When they don't know how to do something they either don't do it all or do it wrong. When you tell them something is wrong instead of fixing it they blame other staff members and/or get very defensive and rude. Many of the staff do not listen and will talk over people when being asked questions or being told concerns. The management team only shrugs off concerns with "We can do better."; "We have other patients"; or "They are trying." Or they flat out ignore them. They have staff members who injured my brother while turning him and instead of owning up to there being a problem with using staff that do not have the strength to probably move my brother I was told "That's who we have they should get help."

Who "they have" are not "trying".

They received negative reviews on their Facebook page and instead of addressing them they just took the reviews option down and removed all the reviews.

Overall

Kindred Hospital Westminster refuses to negotiate a labor contract with the employees represented by the unions CNA and NUHW. Kindred has cancelled numerous negotiating meetings with the employees and their union reps. Now in ploy to further delay negotiating a contract, Kindred has switched lawyers. The lawyer now taking over the negotiations stated that he would not be available for about two months. If Kindred does not respect its employees, does it respect patients and families?

THERE IS A HIGH PROBABLITY THAT THE UNION REPRESENTED EMPLOYEES WILL HAVE TO STRIKE IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE!!

Overall
If I could give Kindred a Zer...

If I could give Kindred a Zero rating I would. Kindred Hospital in Westminster is Understaffed. The Nurses are overworked, rude and hard to get a hold of. Forget about talking to a doctor it is impossible. There are no doctors on staff for emergencies and the nurses will reluctantly contact the patients doctor but do very little to follow up on the call. You really have to keep on them.

My Mom's did not want to be on a bipap. The hospital would not listen to this, they put her on it anyway. Her stomach started to swell up to the size of a watermelon and she was screaming in pain for help. She kept saying "help me, help me" over and over for days and hours. The nurses did nothing!!! I had to insist that they contact a doctor and when they finally did 1 day later it took over 8 hours for a doctor to see her. 24 hours later they determined she had and inflamed kidney and colon and they stuck a tube down her nose to keep her stomach drained and then they tied her hands up so she couldn't take the tube out of her noses. My Mom was so frighten and in so much pain. At that point they sedated my Mom into unconsciousness. My Mom died 2 agonizing days later. (my Mom was there to get stronger not to die).

My Mom Stayed at Kindred for 6 days. When someone dies they should be around people that are caring and loving. Unfortunately my Mom died in a torture chamber with uncaring hardened caregivers.

If you have a loved one that needs Acute Care I would avoid Kindred Hospital in Westminster at all costs, there a are lot of other options. I only wish someone had let me know and maybe my Mom would be alive now.
