I had an emergency with a plumbing problem today, May 10, 2017. I called Gene Love Plumbing and they sent someone right out to the house. Jeff P. was the nicest representative ever! He checked out the problem told me what was wrong and started calling reinforcements immediately. He had my problem under control in no time. This is the second time I have called Gene Love Plumbing and it will not be the last! Thank you Jeff and your great crew who helped me out today

Beware! I just purchased a home from Tammy, the owner of Gene Love Plumbing.....she lied in regards to 2 major items on the SC Disclosure Statement. I would be very cautious doing business with such a dishonest person. KARMA

I had them to come out to check my ac unit and my plumbing. All the plumber did was turn on my faucets and look at my water meter. No help at all. The AC guy went into my attic, came down with what he called a battery in his hand and charged me 220 dollars without giving me a diagnosis. He stated my unit was working. It wasn't. Called them back out to check. Another guy came by, did not want to tell me what was wrong. He put a CHEAP Honeywell thermostat on my wall and wrote an invoice for over 200 dollars. I had him to call his supervisor and made him take the thermostat off the wall. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

Expensive, but I feel like I got good quality and our technician was friendly and explained issues to me thoroughly.

WORST COMPANY EVER!!!! They are a rip off. They overcharge for everything! The charged us 65 dollars just to come out and diagnos the problem with the gas hot water heater and we set a time for them to return! They never showed or called!! This is also part of what they do!

WAY over priced estimate on fixing my AC. One example: $270 for a $35 fuse box! Saved $300 on Gene Love's $1000 quote by going to Castle.

Hired Gene Love to wire new kitchen and half bath among a few other electrical items. They were prompt and completed the task. On his first visit, the electrician left wood shavings, nails and scrap wire laying everywhere he worked. I asked to have the exhaust fan hoses connected and insulation put back, and he said that was the HVAC guys' job. On his second visit, he failed to debug a circuit issue leaving the crawlspace and electrical panel doors open until the next day when he could bring help. I asked about installing light fixtures before the 1st visit and on the third visit, he was going to charge close to 100 dollars per fixture. They waived those fees, but charged a lot to have a few switches rewired. Would not use again, but get's 3 stars for being prompt and completing the job. Loses two stars for leaving a mess and repeatedly attempting to charge more than market rates for less than market quality.

I had a problem with calcium coming from water heater. Plumber came out from gene love looked at the outside of the water heater and without opening it said I needed a new one. My kitchen sink was clogged up the plumber took the head from the detachable faucet and ran water without the head attached and said i need a new sink. He didn't actually open the faucet (the part that controls hot/cold water flow. He took a sample of the water to do a water test and charged me 67.50. They quoted me some ridiculous price I think it was something like 1100 for water heater and 700 for sink. Also they never got back to me on the water test which I did call them about and they said someone would call me back and never did. I paid sherwoods plumbing 700 and he fixed my water heater and helped me unclog my faucet.



Update: I found the quote today, 1353.00 for the water heater and 710 for the sink.

Needed a new hot water heater. Had technician within 4 hours of calling and had new tankless hot water heater installed the same day. Removed old tank, capped off old lines, and cleaned up everything. No complaints.

I called 3 different plumbers today because I had a backed up toilet. Gene Love was the first to respond back to me. After trying to unclog the toilet Charles informed me that unfortunately I needed a whole new toilet. Since it was after 5pm on a Friday, I thought my chances of getting a new toilet installed where slim. Charles let me know they had a brand new toilet at the shop and with a little time he could go get it and have it installed the same night! Not only did I have a new toilet at an unbeatable price, due to an order from another customer that later changed their mind, Charles took the time to clean up the bathroom. Gene Love will get my business for any future plumbing or electrical needs!

We called Gene Love after other companies' repairs had been inadequate. They have been wonderful, efficient, and most importantly, their work is high quality. When they fix a problem, it is fixed. Rob and Tim came out today. Rob quickly fixed a leak and explained what happened. Thank you, Rob.

He called Tim to find what was causing a gas leak. It wasn't immediately apparent, but Tim figured it out. We are very grateful again for Gene Love and each of the men who have helped us.

Prompt Service. Freindly & Helpful Techs. Aaron was very helpful in my time of crisis. I always receive quality service from gene Love & will always use them for all my plumbing services..

Had a main line stoppage at my rental location and Daniel came out on THANKSGIVING to assist in clearing the line. He was courteous and helpful and stayed to ensure that the problem was managed. The next day James came out and attempted to camera the site unfortunately the main line was still blocked but he called another technician to attempt to open the line. Again with professionalism the team of employees from Gene Love have been so helpful they are working with me and my property manager to resolve the problem. Thanks Daniel and James for your help on this job.

Outstanding service! Russell came out on a Saturday night and fixed the problem enough to get m through the weekend and then first think Monday morning I got a call from James and he came out and diagnosed my problem and scheduled repairs for the next morning. James gave me his card and said if I had any problems before they got out the next day to make repairs to call him and he would come out and take care of it until the guys got out the next day. Next day, the guys were out first thing that morning and fixed the drainage problem. Will recommend them to everyone!

I would highly recommend Gene Love. I have tried several different companies.With a few rentals I need a company I can depend on thoroughly. they have always given me up front price before the work is done and explained what was to be done. I always ask for the same person though.he has done a good job and treated me and my property with respect he is allways clean and where's shoe covers on his shoes.
I had a bad experience with the first plumber they sent out. he was sent to clean up the other ones mess. he impressed me so much have used him exclusively from then on.so be careful of who you ask for!!!!

If I could give this business zero stars, I would have. We hired Gene Love Plumbing to change the seal on a toliet in a condo we rent out. This is a job my husband has done several times, but we just didn't have time to make a 4 hour round trip for a job that takes less than an hour and costs about $20. The quote they gave us was $190! And he wanted to change out the toliet handle for $80! To top it off the service man was increadibly rude. I feel this company takes advantage of people and I would NOT recommend anyone use their service.

Their htg & air people are awful. Get a 2nd opinion before you do anything with Gene Love

I just want all the folks in Columbia, SC to know that these people are total crooks. I had an A/C problem and they told me that it would cost $1,695, but since I was a preferred customer it would only be $1,300. I called around to get estimates on the part that went out...$900 is the cost that it cost me with a different company. My husband works in ppl homes for a living and his customers complain about them too. If you have A/C problems call AAA Heating and Air. The best and most honest company I have ever worked with...



This is not the first time I have used them, but I will never let them step foot on my property again...

Last year we had a sewer stoppage and called Gene Love Plumbing. They refused to come out to fix our problem because it was Superbowl Sunday and the plumbers wanted to watch the game instead of servicing our needs (they claim to be on call 24/7 every single day of the year).



Admittedly, we were quite disappointed since Mr. Gene Love had built a reputation over many years, even though he has since retired and sold the company to third-party owners not associted with him in any way. Evidently, the new owners don't take the work ethic quite as seriously as Mr. Love once did over a decade ago when he still owned the company.



After discussing our plumbing problem and lack of response to a neighbor, he suggested that we call the REAL Gene Love plumbing company, known as Gene Love Contracting. The showed up less than 30 minutes after I called them (still on Superbowl Sunday), fixed our problem right away and didn't even charge us extra for weekend emergency service, even though we expected that to occur.



Sorry folks, but I for one was NOT impressed with these people at GLP, but was SUPER impressed with GLC. They are truly the "Real" Gene Love plumbers in the Midlands area. Perhaps one day I will give these guys another chance, but I doubt it will be anytime soon. Hope they enjoyed their football game while we suffered!
