West Coast Dental of Van Nuys

Shortly before my appointment at West Coast Dental of Van Nuys, I looked up reviews on the place. Yelp had all bad reviews, while other sites (Insider Pages, Yellow Pages) had good reviews. BELIEVE YELP!!!



On the surface, the place looks like any regular dentist. It's clean, and when I went it wasn't very busy. Everyone I dealt with was super nice, until I met the dentist.



It quickly became very clear that the dentist is just looking for ways to charge you money. First, she went on and on about how I need to start flossing. I floss every day and have for years, and in the past dentists have always been very complimentary of it. She then told me that I have a very complicated cavity in between my teeth that will be very hard to fix. They later told me that it would cost well over 1000 dollars to do that filling the way she said it needed to be done. I also had her look at a wisdom tooth. I had a feeling before going that I would need to get one pulled because it's been growing in wrong, but I also have another one that has been in for years that many dentists have seen and have told me not to worry about. The other two are not in yet. She told me I need to have all four pulled, which after insurance would cost $400, meaning that if I didn't have insurance it would be $2000! FInally, she told me that they were adding a bacteria killing wash to my regular teeth cleaning that would cost $120 more.



Obviously, I told her no to the $120 wash. I got my regular cleaning, told them thanks, and am now looking for a legit dentist to check out my wisdom tooth.



Long story short, do not go here!! They overcharge and will do anything to get more money out of you!
