A Touch of Class Chimney Sweep

Very overpriced-- please read on. $135 for a flue cleaning and inspection. At that price I expected some sort of advanced equipment or process, but the inspection involved shining a flashlight up the flue , looking at it, and saying, 'Yup, we need to clean it!"



The equipment was nothing more than a chimney sweep and a vacuum to gather soot as it was brushed out. Only took him 15-20 min. I'm quite sure that this is something I will be doing myself in the future once you consider that you can buy a chimney sweep and do this yourself for less than half the price!

I called A Touch of Class on Thursday and got a Monday appointment. Jim was actually early and got right to work. He inspected my wood stove and confirmed that it needed to be cleaned. He explained everything he was doing and even warned me that the vacuum (which stayed outside) might startle the cats. Now THAT was thoughtful. He was eager to answer questions and I learned that he's been sweeping chimneys for 33 years, and I learned how to keep a chimney cleanest while having a nice warm home. When he was done, he vacuumed around the stove, and there was no mess at all. The whole process took about 30 minutes, including chat time. I will definitely be calling A Touch of Class next year when wood stove season has passed.
