Kings renovations

Words cannot begin to describe the nightmare that Raul and his "kings" have caused for our family.

We purchased a "fixer-upper" and contracted Raul's crew to do the work, based on a recommendation from a trusted family member. This would soon become one of the biggest mistakes of our lives.

Where to even begin? Here's just a short list of some of the fun:

- Sealed a LIVE wire into our ceiling, under a baby's room
- Ruined thousands of dollars worth of bathroom tile due to two rounds of the WORST tile installation known to man (did not use spacers when laying the tile, put drywall under the tile, etc.)
- Dragged appliances across hardwood floors with little to no floor covering, causing thousands of dollars in additional damages
- Damaged our new hardwood cabinets
- Cleaned our mid-treatment hardwood floors with a degreaser and then WINDEX, after being told not to touch the floors
- Dripped paint all over the floors due to a lack of floor covering
- Likely stole diamond studs from our home

Worst of all? Raul asking us to "trust him" at every step along the way. And then falsely promising make-good cash when the damages were brought to his attention.

On two separate occasions, Raul has promised $3,000+ in cash so that we can re-buy materials and pay for a new contractor to re-do most of the work. BOTH times, Raul has ghosted us and stopped responding to messages. It's now clear that we're part of a disgusting scheme.

At this point, I would not trust the Kings to even fix a lightbulb, and urge everyone to use EXTREME caution before signing on the dotted line.

They did a great job renovating our two bathrooms! We would use them again as well as recommend them to family and friends.

Poor quality of work, didn't finish the project, no refund, many absent days, avoided my phone calls, high prices, unprofessional, unlicensed, incapable of fulfilling permit requirements, and we now have over $3,000 in repairs to deal with as a direct result of working with this company. I do not recommend working with The Kings of Renovations for any type of work involving plumbing, carpentry, electrical, or landscaping.



We paid $3,017 to have The Kings of Renovations finish a bedroom in our basement ($2,617) and fix a sump pump drain in our backyard ($400). Our original contract had a separate price for installing a kitchen. We ended up canceling the contract by that point because the previous work was so unsatisfactory.



We have already paid the full price of finishing the bedroom. After Raul Berganza (owner) and Julio Alvares (partner) failed to respond to many phone calls and failed to arrive at scheduled appointments we decided to get a refund for what was not finished. At this moment, Raul prefers to keep the full payment of the bedroom project despite not having finished it. His reasons for not returning the difference include having paid his workers already, having lost money on the project, and only doing this project as a favor to Julio. We personally don't believe he lost money or merely took on the work as a favor. As business owner he would have kept the profits for himself. We paid for the materials so those were not a cost for his business. Furthermore, Raul's workers spent very few hours doing actual work (less than 40 hours across 3 months).
