Kavitha has over 10 years experience working with teens, young adults and families. Her areas of interest also include issues related to couples in inter-racial marriages and helping women with anxiety, depression and stress that arises from life transitions. She adopts a primarily strength-based approach to counseling and believes that each one of us has the innate desire and wherewithal to grow and develop to our full potential. Kavitha’s clients value the insights, compassion and genuine respect she has for their struggles. She speaks five languages, and is very sensitive and aware of the many challenges that affect minority groups including identity, cultural assimilation and self-esteem. Kavitha draws from the training she has received in a variety of modalities in her work with clients, including Nonviolent Communication, Narrative Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness techniques, Gottman Method of Couple's counseling and Family of Origin therapy. She offers both brief and long term models of therapy for very affordable fees. Kavitha also provides therapy via skype and phone in addition to face-to-face counseling.
