I didn't know what was wrong with me before coming to this place at no time at all Doctor John Adams and one of his wonderful counselors I forgot her name she's an older black lady jumped right on my case diagnosed me with major depressive disorder I was suicidal when I came to the place they straightened up the proper medications I should be on thow it doesn't cure my disorder it helped a lot only problems I seem to have there was lazy unprofessional staff I don't know what their titles are but basically all they do is watch you and check your blood pressure and hand out your toiletries some of them were great some of them should not be in that type of business a lot of gossiping among staff pointing fingers at each other does not solve any problems and is very unprofessional in front of the patients and I mean patient not inmates..

My husband was there as in patient for about four weeks. Unfortunately no progress was done, he was let go without improvement. Besides the doctors never call back even several attempts were made to make contact with them. Finally a counselor contact me, but her attitude was rude. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

My husband was sexually assaulted by 5 male nurses during his 14 day stay in 1992. He was over medicated (drugged) and forced into horrifying sexual acts. These men were never charged and may have done this to others. The hospital takes absolutely no responsibility for this.

I've read similar reviews on here and I'm thinking it's time to put a stop to this. Anyone interested in filing a lawsuit with us? This has to stop. Now.

I was admitted for simply being suicidal. We were yelled at for laughing to loud, our rooms were locked during the day, we got two ten minute phone calls a day. The patients are nice but the staff is rude and sometimes doesn't listen I what you need (in example: a laundry basket). If your in the adolescent unit you have to have your parents approve everyone you talk to on a list. We did get outside time but it was cramped in a very very small patio and we only were allowed once a day. I got scolded for not knowing the routine when I had first arrived. the doctors hadnt informed me on any part of my treatment. My grandparents brought work and they never returned it to me. We had to have six groups a day which is really exhausting and them for an hour we were just sent to our rooms to shut up. All it taught me was you were punished for telling the truth. If your kids are suicidal don't send them here.

Not only were there riots and fights in my ward, patents couldn't have access to shoelaces, but they had access to "art supplies" which consisted of scapels, nails and metal wire. Additionally they broke my phone, and I was told they would replace it, only to get the run around for 6 WEEKS ( can you even go a day without your phone these days) and told they would give me 100$. You would think a program dedicated to the holistic wellbeing and health of every patient, would certainly take the fiscal and moral high ground and take responsibility for their staff errors, especially with a 50,000$ bill.

Wow...these reviews are brutal. I was in the Partial hospitalization program as well as intensive out patient. I loved laurel ridge. I made great progress into getting well there- though unfortunately with a mental disorder like mine which likes to take weird turns, its hard to "recover" but I love knowing that they are there for me. I was sad to see most of the old staff go to the new hospital that just opened, SAB or whatever. But laurel ridge has been good to me. I got my meds on time, my psychiatrist actually works there, and i feel comfortable in the environment, plus the food isn't half bad. :)

My 13 year old son attended Laurel Ridge in San Antonio between 4/8 and 4/11 of 2015. My family and I reside over five hours away from San Antonio and, due to my work schedule my wife was the only person to attend the admittance prior to my travel to be in town during treatment a few days later. Less than 24 hours into treatment, the faculty and my wife had a group meeting to discuss my son's problem. They did not bother to conference me in on this discussion even though a request was made. At this discussion, Dr. John Adams made a suggestion for an anti-depressant prescription. Alarmed, my wife rebutted that our son had been there less than 24 hours and was concerned that it was too soon to make such a recommendation, to which the committee agreed. We asked how long they recommend our son stay in treatment and the answer was 'at least until the beginning of the following week. Then, on

→Friday, we were told our son would be released the following day. We were told to pick him up at 8:30 a.m., after the patients had been served breakfast. We called the hospital on Saturday morning at approximately 8 a.m., prior to making the trip to pick up our son and were told that there was no release on file. They said a request would be made to Mr. Adams for the release papers and that we would be called back. At approximately 11 a.m., we were told that our son had his release orders and was ready to go. When we went to pick him up, I asked to speak to the Dr. to get a formal diagnosis. I was told to wait in the waiting room and the Dr. would be notified that we wanted to speak. After waiting 30 minutes, I again inquired and the staff said 'we thought you already spoke with him', then made another request. Finally Mr. Adams agreed to meet with me and discuss my son in a public setting, just feet away from where a group meeting with patients was being held. He failed to give me any concrete diagnosis and said that we had 'declined medication' to which I informed him that we felt the initial recommendation was too soon, but was open to the idea if that was what was recommended. During our brief discussion, Mr. Adams failed to make any eye contact with me, even when I purposely moved into his direct line of sight, he moved to the side and looked away while speaking. Now, after exhausting out Flex account of over $1000 I am getting a bill for an additional $418.

→Numerous calls to Gwen Mc

→Cleary, Director at Laurel Ridge have gone unanswered. Calls and emails to Patient Advocacy have gone without any kind of follow up. My son still has the same issues that brought about the visit in the first place. Save your money- Laurel Ridge is staffed with under-qualified staff and just out to rob patients and concerned parents!

A staff member assaulted my son and the hospital tried to report to cps I did it. I had already beat them to the punch. Also my son told cps who did it and questioned my other children. The case was closed and now laurel ridge is going to be investigated. Please don't take your children there.

I see that a lot of people are upset with this place, and I'm so sorry that happened to you! But my experience was really good. I was in Colorado Unit and the staff there was sooo nice. I told them before I left how much I appreciated them. One of them talked me through a breakdown, and assured me everything was going to be ok. Then the day before my discharge, another staff member saw me crying and took time to give me a charming pep talk. The daily groups throughout the day are pretty cool. Some of them are not so useful, but I felt the majority were really fun and worth attending. Of course there were some pretty awesome patients I got to meet too, but even if they hadn't been there, I still would've enjoyed my time at Laurel Ridge. My psychiatrist there was good about giving me "homework" to do to boost my self esteem, and he seemed to genuinely care. I saw another patient have a bad experience with another doctor there, but that was the only "bad" thing I saw. I sort of miss it there, actually. So for everyone who had a bad experience, not ALL of this place is badly managed. :) I only gave it four stars because yes there are some things they could do better but overall I am satisfied

My son was in the adolescent unit for several weeks. The staff are very caring and hard working. The communication from the doctor and therapist could have been better but overall this is a very good treatment center.

I am a 15 year old adolescent and i would like to say we get emotionally abused by each other!?! Some kids are nice but not all of them. the children's units is screaming for their mom or dad. This is not a place for people with depression or anyone!!!! Is it illegal to sit in a chair for 24 hrs if we get in trouble!!!!? 72 hrs is max! If we go to school by leaving the unit, like I'm the second person behind the first. I'm 2 number 2. We say one sir 2 sir or 3 sir (or ma'm when entering or leaving doors. I wrote a long story from experience here but I just can't! Sorry but it won't work. Just PLEASE don't send your child or kids your teens or anyone here!! People travel for hour to get their kid to San Antonio for this crappy treatment!MIf insurance runs out, bye bye. im suicidal and Im WORSE now. Imagine that...yea, I'm Soooo lucrative. Goddamn Laurel Ridge.

POSTED BY MY WIFE! my son was put in for treatment due to med problems he was allowed to start a relationship with a female patient they were released together and she went home with him now he is in worse condition than when he was admitted they should have moved one of them when this started to different cottage with different schedule to prevent I asked them to put a stop to this I will file complaints everywhere I am able about this when I confronted supervisor he said they would use this to train staff better that they allowed this to prevent a seen and disruption on the unit as to not upset the other patients, well so the patients are in charge threaten to throw a fit and the staff will let them do and have what they want? I think not so our family is trying to clean up a bigger mess than before he was admitted!

I have been to multiple mental hospitals and this one was by far the best one. I was put in the acute adolescent unit and I actually found it quite helpful. The staff was always very nice to me. They gave me any meds, food, drink, blankets, toiletries, etc. that I requested. They had group therapy all day and it was quite helpful. Also, when I needed it, they always had someone I could talk to about whatever was going on. I could tell the staff genuinely cared about me. At other hospitals the staff treated me very poorly. I was denied meals, insulted, refused information about my meds, and many other negligent instances. However, this was not the case at Laurel Ridge. If I had to go to a hospital again, I'd choose Laurel Ridge.

SHUT THIS DOWN!

Where do I start??? This was my first time in a rehab.... I was 17 years old and extremely addicted to pills.... Me and my parents didn't look at reviews and just checked myself into this place..... It was the worse place I've ever been to.... We did a lot of coloring, and the classes didn't even make sense. The nurses couldn't Anwser my moms questions and the doctors couldn't remember the meds they put me on.... The only thing I looked forward to was my three best friends coming to visit me.... For two weeks they were allowed in till the last time before I left against doctors wills!!!! The nurses told my friends only one could come in I cried my little eyes out for the other two come in and the lady ended up locking me in my room till my mom got there and took me out against doctors will. Horrible place.... I ended up going to austin to a wonderful treatment center. This place should be down!!!! I feel bad for anyone stuck in there and someone really should shut it down or fire the whole staff and start over!

This place should be illegal to operate

Went to LR for pill addiction treatment. Horrible horrible personnel and 'med nurse' lol... She's so horrible she can't never be a nurse elsewhere but this hell hole. The group activities r so not helpful instead it made me want to take pills to escape all of that while being in group activity. No medication were dispensed to help with withdrawals. To all people that needs help with getting off pills pls do not go to laurel ridge. U will regret n leave in an even worst condition than when you checked in... Think twice

I wish I would have seen all ...

I wish I would have seen all of your reviews before I entered laurel ridge. Unfortunetly I did not!

I went through severe trauma at laurel ridge first hand! I was abused, neglected, and yes even molested! I told 5 different professionals what had happened, not one of them did a thing! I was locked out of my room 16 hours a day. I was vomiting and had severe diareah and was given a bucket and told that if i missed i was cleaning up everything!

I was refused my medication by the med nurse, (she got off on watching patients in pain and distress). I begged to be taken to a hospital only to be told NO we don't have time for that kind of paper work!

I was locked in a 6'X6' room with brick walls and a 1" pad on the floor to detox! I was given one bottle of gatoraid a day! If you do find yourself with no where else to go but this UNSAFE UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE stay away from the RIO UNIT!!!!!!!!!

When I went into thisUNSAFE UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE I didn't have a mark on my body, when I left both my eyes were black! my kneesa were raw! My elbows wer skinned! My hands were brused so bad I couldn't write! I had bruises ALL over my whole body!

They document any and all marks on my body when I enter yet didn't document what I looked like when I left!

I would not reccomend this UNPROFESSIONAL UNSAFE PLACE to the devil himself!

I am seeking any former or current patients of laurel ridge A.K.A. UNPROFESSIONAL UNSAFE PLACE who would like to band together and seek further avenues.

By the way the Dr who discharged me totally screwed up my medication , So severly over medicated that I may have problems for the rest of my life!!!

I will be checking back to this site every week to see if anyone wants to join me.

I want to make SEVERAL complai...

I want to make SEVERAL complaints on this treatment facility. I went for the vistiation today from 5p-7p. I got there at 5:40p and went inside to check in and the lady at the front register said that I have to leave my purse and my cell in my car. I have a 3 1/2 year old child (who is not allowed to go to visit's for her step dad cause she is under 12) that has spinal bifida and yet had no way for someone to contact me IF something WAS to go wrong with her. When, I got done with signing in and putting my things back in my car, they didn't even walk me to the facility where he was at so I could see him. I had to walk around and find it myself. When I did get there they had us sit in the living area (where everyone watches TV) to have our visit. We had NO PRIVACY ON WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH HIS MEDICAL TREATMENT!!! Everyone in the room could hear what was being said and then on top of everything when they had their smoke breaks for the patients the visitors had to wait inside cause we are not allowed to go out with the patients. When we were trying to get the information on his medicines they put him on they told him he had to wait and ask a different nurse because they didn't know what he was taking... I finally left the facility at 6:55p due to feeling completely uncomfortable with having to sit in a room with everyone listening to our conversations.

This is not a treatment center this is an area to have your family treated like crap and to have your entire life to be heard by everyone and not being allowed to have PATIENT CONFIDENTIALLY... Our doctor and I are going to be getting him out ASAP to get him into another facility that will better treat him... This is NOT the way a PATIENT should be treated in any way!!!

I wouldn't ever give any star ratings to this Facility

I wouldn't bring my dog to thi...

I wouldn't bring my dog to this place. I witnessed 8 hours of the Sabine room patients being treated with such disrespect, cussed at by staff, constantly being treated as if they were an inconvenience instead of patients in need of help. Staff was being accused of stealing the patients personal belongings/toiletries. No help at all wi...ll be obtained here, this is merely a warehouse to dump off a family member to be baby sat in the worst conditions possible. They strip all patients rights and it is not for their protection but only for the staff convenience. This is a prison, not a treatment facility. If anyone has a loved one that is in desperate need of help, PLEASE DO NOT BRING THEM TO LAUREL RIDGE TREATMENT CENTER TO BE DESSERTED AND LEFT TO ENDURE HORRIBLE AND INHUMANE TREATMENT FROM THIS PLACE. IF YOU HAVE A LOVED ONE THERE, TAKE THEM OUT, BELIEVE THEM WHEN THEY ARE TELLING YOU HOW THEY GET MISTREATED AND TREATED WITH NO DIGNITY OR RESPECT, I HAVE WITNESSED THIS MYSELF WAITING FOR MY MOTHER TO BE DISCHARGED, I WATCHED THRU THE WINDOWS, HEARD AND SAW SO MUCH DISTURBING TREATMENT, IT LEFT ME SICKENED. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND SHUT DOWN... THEY ONLY WANT MONEY, THEY CARE NOTHING AT ALL ABOUT HELPING PATIENTS.

NO STAR AT ALL IS DESERVED FOR THIS TREATMENT CENTER, BUT THIS SURVEY DEFAULTS US TO SELECT ATLEAST ONE.... BUT IN ALL HONESTY, THIS PLACE GETS *0* STARS IN MY OPINION!!!! BEWARE OF LAUREL RIDGE TREATMENT CENTER!!! CHOOSE CAREFULLY WHEN LOOKING FOR HELP FOR YOURSELF OR A LOVED ONE, PLEASE DON'T TAKE THEM TO THIS PRISON AND DISGUSTING PRACTICES. THEY NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED AND SHUT DOWN!!!

It is not the best place . I didn't think the staff was professional. I dont even know how some of these peopled are qualified to work there.

When I went there they misdiagnosed me , nearly overdosed me and then discharged me without even asking me if I was ready, how I felt ? Nothing . As soon as your insurance runs out your out. They pretty much give you a two week timeline .

I do think that you can make the best out of what you have but don't expect miracles .
