There are several Orthopedic surgeons in this practice.

My first visit lasted about 3 minutes, he never even touched my injured ankle and walked out of the room while I was asking a question. His only advise on my severely swollen, bruised and painful ankle that I twisted was to walk on it if it did not hurt too much.

7 weeks later on a follow-up visit my ankle is still swelling, I have very limited range of motion and I continue to need crutches to walk.......... he told me to try physical therapy for 6 weeks and if I was not better to return to see the ankle specialist (Amod Paranjpe) who is also on staff in the same office.

With little progress and questions the PT could not answer after going to Physical Therapy for 2 weeks I decided to see Dr Paranjpe. He advised me to stop physical therapy and not to put weight on my injured ankle until a MRI is done to identify any damage that may have taken place. It took a week to get GHP to approve the MRI which revealed that I have 2 torn ligaments and 1 torn tendon.

On my follow-up visit with Dr. Paranjpe, he only seemed interested in doing surgery. When I told him I did research on my condition that indicated that surgery should not be considered any earlier than 6 months unless the ankle will not support weight, (which mine does) he offered no further advise for a treatment plan.

I ask my physical therapist if he could refer me to a good ankle specialist that is NOT a surgeon. He highly recommended a nearby Dr whom I plan to see for consultation if my foot does not make progress in the next 2-3 weeks of PT.

My conclusion: Do not ever see a Surgeon for consultation of a injury before first seeing a doctor who (is Not a surgeon) specializes in the area of concern.

I can not recommend Dr. Beirne to anyone. My own personal experience with this doctor was horrible. His behavior to me as the patient and my husband was unprofessional. He misdiagnosed me even though both my husband and I kept telling him what we thought was wrong. He was rude and totally dismissive. The outcome was me having emergency surgery, almost losing my foot and three months lost work.
