Hilltop Medical Clinic (HMC) was started in 1986 by thirty-five local Primary Care Physicians. “We recognized the need for a Clinic that provided care for minor emergencies, care for patients without a regular doctor, and care when the person’s Physician was not available.”

I grew up in West Central Minnesota about two hours west of Minneapolis, where I was active in sports, mainly football and track. I went to the University of North Dakota and also the University of Minnesota Duluth for college obtaining a B.S. degree in Biology and minors in German and Chemistry. I attended medical school at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Duluth concentrating on Family Medicine. For the last two years, our class transferred down to the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis.

My career included starting a Diabetes Education and Care Center with my wife, Dr. Nancy Sutton Pierce; teaching the residents at Mercy Medical center, ten years assisting on a drug and alcohol recovery unit, working with patients with spinal injuries, covering Oncology practices, and of course, starting Hilltop Medical Clinic.

Elizabeth Stratte began her medical education at Portland State University and Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine in Portland, OR, in 1982 and her M.D. in 1986. She then completed her residency in Dermatology in 1994 at the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine as well. She was licensed to practice medicine in California and from 1990-1991 she was an Infectious Disease Fellow and Chief Resident at the Oakland Children’s Hospital followed up as an attending physician in Dermatology at the Oakland Children’s Hospital in Oakland, CA, in 1994-1999.
