need to add two roof vents on my house. Its a manufactured home built 1983 with a metal roof.

Answer

Anonymous

1. First, determine where you want to add the roof vents. Consider the location of the vents and the airflow it will provide to the house.

2. Plan to cut a hole in the roof for the vents. Measure the size of the vent and mark the area where the hole needs to be cut.

3. Use a reciprocating saw or jigsaw to cut the hole in the metal roof. Be careful not to damage the surrounding metal panels.

4. Install the vent flashing around the hole. The flashing acts as a barrier to prevent water from leaking into the hole through the roof.

5. Install the vent hood over the flashing. The vent hood has louvers that allow air to pass through the vent but prevent rain or snow from getting inside.

6. Attach the vent pipe to the hood and route it through the roof to the interior space.

7. Finally, seal around the vent with silicone sealant to prevent any water from leaking around the edges.

A roofing professional would need to assess the feasibility of such a modification and make necessary adjustments to ensure the safety and stability of the roof structure. However, it may be more practical and cost-effective to consider other options, such as adding a dormer or a roof extension to address the height difference....Read More

With limited information, you would probably need a window cleaner. Find someone experienced with heights and, ideally, your type of product. If you know who installed it, they may have a recommendation. You could also ask a local greenhouse or garden club for people they have had success with.
