General Info
Governed by the state of Oregon, the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, also known as OLCC, was established in 1933. It grants licenses to sell and serve alcoholic beverages and maintains an account of more than 240 retail liquor stores operated by contracted agents. The commission provides grocery stores with licenses to sell packaged beer and wine, as well as license for selling beer, wine and distilled spirits by glasses for restaurants, bars and taverns. The Oregon Liquor Control Commission works to control underage drinking and alcohol-related problems through the Public Safety Services Program, which emphasizes liquor law enforcement, outreach education, community-based publicity and communication. The commission operates though communications, human resources, administrative, and financial and management consultation services divisions. Additionally, it administers the Alcohol Server Education Program, which focuses on responsible alcohol service.
