Horrible !

My dad was admitted to Phoenix Baptist Hospital due to a stroke. Well off the bate they were rude, and unconsiderant. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see him every single day, the days I did see him they just got worse! My father said they poked at him for an IV multiple times and couldn't get it right. Another insident was when my sister was visiting with my dad, and my dad needed some medical assistance , it was a 45 min wait till my sister had to go out there to the nurses station and to find out there gossiping about how Starbucks coffee prices went up! At this point I am outraged, no longer will I or anyone come back to this hospital.

I would not suggest anyone to use this hospital. My young Niece just had her baby there and they were very disorganized. Our entire family was there to welcome the new addition to our family. I will start with the security. Since I have never been to this hospital before, I wasn't quite sure how to get into the labor and delivery building because everything was locked up (which was great). I went into the emergency room where a nice nurse told me to go out to the north side doors and call for security who would then let us in. I did what she said, called security using a phone outside who then told me that security was backed up so wait at the door for awhile and someone will open. Needless to say, no security opened the doors but different people coming out was letting anyone from the outside in. So the whole idea of locking doors with security to watch is a waste of time. No security. Went to the labor and delivery where my daughter and I were greeted by a nice nurse at the counter who had asked us to sign in. We did. She directed us to where we needed to go. I went to my Nieces room where the rest of the family was and waiting for my Niece to return. Unfortunately, my Niece had to get a C-section, and she was then switched to a different room. The nurse came in and told us to grab her things and ours and move to another room, except only ONE, person at a time was allowed to visit with her. My Niece returned, her vitals were good and the baby was born healthy. The only thing was that she was slightly groggy due to the C-section but was otherwise able to communicate and wanting all her family around her for support since it was her first baby and didn't know what to expect. Which didn't happen because they only allowed ONE person at a time in the room. During this time, my Niece did not get to hold or see her baby, and she continued to ask why she couldn't see the baby and they told her after a couple of hours, even though the baby was HEALTHY. The grandmother and great grandmother were allowed to go into the nursery to visit the baby for a short while. The rest of the family was allowed to see the baby though a window when the nurses felt like lifting the curtains. We didn't get a very good look at the baby because there was a lot of objects around the room blocking any view but whatever we could see the baby was just adorable. One older nurse came out very rudely and said to us, "this is the last time I'm going to lift the curtain for anyone," mind you this was only the second time she's ever had to lift the curtain for our family. We were not able to capture any photos for memories for my Niece. We spent most of our time in a very small cramped waiting space. All in all, I don't think this was a very good experience for having her first baby or for the family. This did not seem like a very welcoming place for family at all. Not very family oriented. I had my first baby at Arrowhead Hospital, and my experience was amazing. All my family was allowed to be in my room, they were all allowed to experience the joy of welcoming a new baby into our family. I am very saddened that my Niece did not get the same experience. I have never seen such a set up before in a hospital for labor and delivery in all my life of visiting friends and family that were expecting a baby. It was horrible. (Also, would not have given them any stars, but I had no choice, had to pick a star to post review, but I would give a star for the nurses that were really nice :))

My 20 year old brother had an AVM rupture about a month ago. Maryvale Hospital rushed my brother in a helicopter to Phoenix Baptist Hospital where he was admitted to ICU awaiting brain surgery to stop the bleed. He was unable to move the right side of his body and unable to say much. The entire staff was wonderful which made us feel a little better after everything that was going on. The nurses were caring and prompt to all my brother and family needs. The therapists were compassionate and friendly. We are truly grateful with all the staff! Surgery was a success and my brother is recovering very well. One week after the surgery my brother speech and memory have improved tremendously, began walking on his own and began to move his right arm. He was discharged home with outpatient therapy. Thank You Phoenix Baptist Staff!

This is the worst hospital I h...

This is the worst hospital I have ever been in! I was in for a rotator cuff surgery in 2001, and my right arm was taped to my stomach. I was given meals without any help on a tray I couldn't reach, I rang the bell for 4 hours before any pain medication was given, then they chewed me out for waiting until my pain was out of control. Ithey made me drink all the water in the pitcher, and when I rang for a bed pan I got no response. So I used a straw in my mouth to raise the bed to get out and make my way to the bathroom, which took a long time, and back in my bed without any help, or them even knowing I was out. There was only one nurse for the whole floor that night, so good luck getting any help.

The pain medication shots were given in the joint of my hip, which left me almost unable to walk when I got home. I had a superinfection in my mouth as a result to the strong antibiotics I was given. I also had a staff infection that I had to be treated for by my regular doctor. The recovery process was the most horrible experience I ever had, I had to sleep sitting up or the muscle spasams would hurt unbearably, among the other problems I received in the hospital

I arranged with my Insurance before the surgery, and was told I was covered. But on the day of surgery, the contract with the hospital had expired, and I was responsible for a lot of bills my insurance wouldn't pay. My payments for physical therapy were posted to another account. I was hounded for payments, which I already made. It took me over a year to straighten out the mess. Later on I was driving up a road adjacent to the hospital and witnessed a woman in a hospital gown, dragging an Iv with her and nobody with her heading away from the hospital. While at the surgeon's office I overheard a man complaining to the Dr. that The hospital wouldn't let him go home until he consumed all the water, but they wouldn't let him go to the bathroom. NEVER GO TO PHOENIX BAPTIST HOSPITAL! IF you are ever in an accident make sure that they never take you there either.

This is the worst hospital I have ever seen THANK GOD I HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE.

My sister in law was sent to this hospital with out her permission. The family insisted that she be taken to Saint Joe's .T ambulance med. said no that they were taking her to babtist... My son and other family members were trying to talk to the Doctor on call after she had been ther for several days. As they were trying to ask questions and get some kind of imput from him,He would start watching Tv. My son had to say HEY we are over here. She is still there in ICU. The staff keep saying we are going to do this and that to help her. Do you think they have done any thing of value? NO!!!!!!!!! Please do someting to help Diane Newman.

Worst Hospital in the valley- avoid it at all cost!

I have had several bad incidents with different family members and friends.. First- I took my sister to the ER. She had a bad migraine and was throwing up for days. I had to write her name on a sign in sheet. 4 hrs later I asked how long until her name would be called to even get started. They said they had trauma patients that took priority and they couldn't give me an estimate, but said "Probably another couple of hours" I said take her name off the list- I'm going somewhere else (As my sister was now passing out) They said "It's the same everywhere else" I just said yea right. Took her to St. Josephs, she got right in- The best care yet. Now there is a friend in a Hospice bed as I write this because of Kidney Failure. Where was she at? you guessed it- Baptist. She was complaining of back pain and they did nothing about it- didn't even check her kidneys. They just said it was from her falling. After one week at Baptist she's now dieing- Nice move Baptist! I have had several friends even complain- they all say it's the worst hospital- If you don't have to go there- stay far away from it!

I took my fiance to the er roo...

I took my fiance to the er room with severe neck pain that had been causing numbing pain. The nurse had to help him out of the car onto a bed......BECAUSE they had no wheel chairs. Hmmm that should've been our sign. An ER with no wheelchairs. They allowed him to wait behind the window in the bed. The conversations the triage nurses were having were ver innapropriate. One of the nurses husband was waiting for his wife to get out of work. He starting showing off his tattoos. One was of her on his arm the other was of a family member who had passed away. One of the nurses told the wife when are you gonna get a tattoo of him? She said I have one for him and pointed at her crotch. All this while my 3 yr old son is sitting there next to me. Well we continued waiting and it took over 3 hours to be seen by a Dr. that had no compassion. She never bothered to even sit her but down nor take notes. She then said they would do an x-ray but that they weren't able to do anything futher for him if nothing showed up in the films. My fiance was furious and felt we had wasted time sitting there for NOTHING. He asked for discharge papers and nurse Mitch never even asked why just got them ready. As we were walking out my fiance told the front desk he was upset with the service he got and someone going in an ER with the pain he had should've been seen right away. The nurse Dell said "well you look fine now." Wrong answer there buddy. So over 2 hrs of waiting with severe pain in the neck for no reason at all except to get a nice FAT bill.
