I wanted to get the floors in my new apartment buffed and a coat of polyurethane put down. I called many places, and kept getting the run around. One place missed an appointment to give me an estimate. Others had only music, not an answering machine message. Some seemed to operate multiple businesses from the same number. I knew I needed a legit. company that was licensed and insured to get through the condo office, and I was getting really worried.



Then I called New York Flooring. When I told him I was on a deadline to get this done, Sean, worked me in for an estimate the day I called. He was prompt and friendly. And, he gave me a completely honest assessment. I knew the floors were in pretty good shape, but I thought they needed a little work. He said, basically, that they really didn't need the work. He pointed out a few minor flaws, and said that buffing and putting down polyurethane wouldn't solve those problems. He said, he could sand the floors, etc., and that would cost more. He said I could do it, but it wouldn't make much difference in the way the floors looked now, and if it were his apartment, he wouldn't do anything. Basically, he had the opportunity to make $700 to $950 off a sale to me, and he was honest instead.



He even gave me advice on which products to use to clean the floor myself. I was so stunned by encountering someone who was polite, prompt, knowledgeable and honest that I didn't know what to say. Use this company--if they're this honest, helpful and prompt for someone who isn't a paying customer, imagine how helpful they could be to someone who is. Also, pay attention to the name.
