Steven's Tree Experts

I browsed the website for several different Tree Expert companies. I came across Steven's Tree Experts and gave them a call. Operators were very friendly and sent out an arborist almost immediately. The arborist that came out was very knowledgeable about my trees and friendly. The price was right in my price range so I decided to go with the company. The work was set up for 2 days from the initial meeting. Crew came out and was great! At the end of days work, I loved the work they did. All in all, this company is very experienced and friendly. Knows how to tend to their customers.

I hired Landscape Engineering to re-landscape my front yard.

I told them to work with my budget of $9000.

I had few trees or shrubs, mostly lawn that pooled water in the middle.

They removed lawn, re-graded and installed a new smaller area to reduce water use.

They added a beautiful Crape Myrtle, and shrubs, vines to hide walls.

Azaleas in the front add color.

My garden looks lush, drains properly and uses less water.

The sprinklers were upgraded and work well.

Work was timely, cleanup was great.

I am currently planting a few of my favorite flowers to give it my own personal touch.

Tree crew for the day trimmed 2 palm trees and 3 large trees. Their first quote was $4600, and then they called back within an hour of their visit to say they looked over their photos and really it would be just $3200. I said that was still too high and called back to say my budget was $2000 and asked if we could reduce the number of trees to get down to that price. He offered to just send a crew for the "whole day" to do what they could-but that sounded problematic to me, after being burned by such arrangements in the past. After some discussion, he said he would send the crew for the day who would could do everything on the original quote and-if they had time-could even do a few other cuts here and there if they have time-for $2500. I said that was a problem for us but talked over with my husband who felt it was worth it, so we agreed. As you can expect, I was expecting that they would address everything on the list at that point. They didn't.



You know-it was OK to start on the day of the service-I met the foreman and went over my list of trees. I explained the order of priority and showed him the extra cuts I wanted if they had time. He said they should be able to do it all. They cut a lot of stuff in the first 2-3 hours-but then they really slowed down and didn't get to everything on the list. I kept asking the very friendly foreman if they were on schedule to get it all done because after a full hour lunch break-they clearly had stopped cutting by about 1:45-and were doing final clean up at 2:30. I would have much rather had trees cut than had my yard raked in detail and leaves blown...I wouldn't have even posted my concerns here except for three reasons: 1) The foreman didn't ever contact me to tell me they wouldn't finish the list. 2) I sent a detailed note with my concerns with the foreman to Lance, who did my estimate and asked him to call me. They had time to cash my check but did not call me back. That was unprofessional. Since they didn't give me a chance to hear my concerns I have no other recourse but to share them here. 3) They dragged a lot of tree debris through a narrow pathway because it was a shorter route to their truck. Not a problem but they broke 2 flowerpots and tore one of my best strapelia plants out of the pot. They clearly noticed this because the two broken pots were stacked up neatly and the strapelia was set, roots up, on another pot. However they didn't TELL me they broke these items and I had to find them the next day. Not cool. In other words-communication. I like these people very much-but I don't think I can recommend them. $2500 is a lot for one day's work in this economy. I have used other companies that I prefer, and will go back to them in the future.
