Fiesta Market

I was waiting in line at the meat counter. The counter person looked at me and helped a Latino lady. This is the second time they have done this. Now I understand they do not want Americans especially white Americans shopping there.

On the way home from an out-of-town trip, my wife and I happened by Fiesta Market north of O'Hare. We couldn't believe what we saw. The store is neat, clean, well-organized. The people with whom we spoke (and there were several) were uniformly friendly. And their prices are hard to believe. There were avocados and mangoes for $.79 each, and snow peas for $1.85/lb, and limes for $0.07 each! Their prices for produce—which seemed quite fresh and of good quality—were often only about 60% of what we pay in Champaign-Urbana. And they have more kinds/brands of canned and bottled products that we use—salsas, beans, etc.—than I've seen anywhere else. And a humongous meat department. And (this is a purely subjective assessment, but I feel strongly about it) the fact that they feature El Milagro tortillas demonstrates to me their good taste in food--in our family, there are NO other tortillas! I desperately wish they had a store in Champaign-Urbana!
