Overall

I find it very unfortunate that I cannot continue to use this animal hospital when it is located in such a convenient proximity from my home, HOWEVER I can't sacrifice getting the best care for my pet just because a vet's office is located close by. My initial contact with the clinic started three weeks ago........to the day. A small dog showed up on my porch several day prior to my first appointment with SPAH. I took the dog in to have her scanned to see if she was micro-chipped and if not, then get vaccinations, de-worming and a general health check up. The front desk was awesome and got the appointment set for that same afternoon. When I arrived all the typical stuff happened; weight, nail trimming, looking in ears, eyes, mouth of the dog by the vet who was assigned to our case, DR. RIVERA. I specifically asked that the (female) dog be checked to see if she was pregnant because I had been in that situation before. The VET TECHNICIAN in the room gave more of an attempt to check the dog than DR. RIVERA. So, despite the fact that she didn't perform a sufficient exam on my dog to determine if she was carrying puppies, she did find it necessary to tell me that the dog was either coming into or going out of heat. Interesting.................CONSIDERING THAT I WAS IN AN EMERGENCY VET CLINIC NOT EVEN 7 DAYS LATER AND THEY CONCLUDED THAT MY DOG WAS INDEED PREGNANT WITH 4 PUPPIES. Next up were the shots, that were not given very well. There were two VERY UNSUCCESSFUL sticks attempted by DR. RIVERA that caused my pup to cry out in pain..........before she asked the technician to pick up the dog so she could make the third and final attempt. We finally complete the visit and leave SPAH.

ULTIMATELY I ended up taking my dog to the vet recommended to me by the folks at the emergency animal clinic diagnosis and treatment. I spent an additional $173 at the emergency vet and $255 within 10 days of taking my dog to SIENNA PLANTATION ANIMAL HOSPITAL to get a clear diagnosis and treatment plan that DR. RIVERA was apparently not able to provide.

They did have an awesome vet technician named Allison that I liked very much. Too bad she works for SPAH.
