Edo Japanese Restaurant

This restaurant gets 1 star for poor service. Wish I could tell you more about the food but can't because I never got to try it. When I walked into the restaurant, I was greeted by a server, who with a very plain face asked, "Can I help you?" His body language spoke volumes, he seemed to wonder why I was there. I awkwardly told him I would like a table. Have you ever had such dialogue entering a restaurant? I haven't. Servers typically know why you're there... anyway, I was taken to a window seat. I was on my lunch break and eating alone so I took my e-reader out. I sat, waiting about 6 or 7 minutes for contact with a waiter or server but none arrived. Finally a group of four diners walked in and were immediately led to a table. none were asked questions, seems like he knew that they were there to eat. They sat. Finally the server silently arrived at my table with a glass of water, then left immediately, bringing glasses to other tables as well. My menu was now closed, as it had been for about ten minutes, as I waited for someone to take my order.



He finally returned, ready to take orders, but he went directly to the table seating the party of four, who arrived seven minutes after I had been seated. He then proceeded to take their orders. I stood, put my coat on and left. I went to a neighboring restaurant where my money appeared to be welcome - no questions asked, and took a carryout tray back to the office with me.



Seems certain ["undesired"] people are welcome and served immediately after arrival at Edo's while others not only have to justify their presence, but wait until the other customers are served first.

I have ordered from the Park Street location for years because they deliver. Usually very good (although the actual act of ordering can be challenging.) Then I visited the Monona Drive location for a business dinner. The food was amazing - I am hooked. This is my new favorite sushi joint in town.
