Overall

We contracted Galyan Lawncare and paid for a full spring/summer/fall of mowing in advance. We paid over $1,000, up front, for 28 lawn mowing sessions as well as some yard work to prep for spring.



After paying, problems started:



1. There was a disconnect between their sales team and their service team. The foreman that supervised our spring cleaning did not have a list of activies he was to perform and did not have enough mulch to finish our yard.



2. After the first visit, we did not see Galyan Lawncare for approximately 1 month. We did experience heavy rains at this time, but there was no proactive communication about when our lawn would be mowed. After several promises to come "the next day" the Galyan team final showed up on April 30. They did such a poor job mowing our lawn that they had to come again on May 6.



3. After this, the service was very sporadic. In total we received 16 out of 28 of the contracted mowings. In some instances where we missed a mowing, the Galyan team did show up, but decided not to mow because they could not get their lawnmower past a gate with 48 inches of clearance.



4. We were contacted multiple times by their accounting team over the summer to pay invoices, and we would have to explain that we prepaid multiple times.



5. At the end of the year I requested a refund for the unused service, and was told I would only receive a credit for services in 2016. I contracted them to provide a service, they did not complete it, and they have chosen to keep our money.



I am writing this to warn others to stay away from Galyan Lawncare. Their business practices constitute fraud.

Overall

I submitted my Home Advisor project on April 23rd, and was immediately contacted by Gaylan Lawncare and was provided a quote right over the phone. The person I spoke with told me he'd give me a call back in a little bit to schedule. I never received a call back to schedule service. I contacted Gaylan myself the next day and spoke to someone who was able to schedule service for April 29th.



On April 29th, no one showed up all day, so I called and was told they would be by later in the day to aerate and seed my lot. No one ever showed up or called, and I saw at 9:30pm that I had received an e-mail (not a phone call) at 6:30pm telling me their crew would come by on either April 30th or May 2nd depending on weather conditions.



Both April 30th and May 2nd came and went with no crews showing up to conduct scheduled service, and no one from Gaylan contacting me in any way. It did not rain either day at my location.



May 4th, I responded to the staff member who had originally sent me the e-mail and informed her of all this, and requested an update to my scheduled service. I received no answer within 24 hours, so on May 5th I e-mailed Gaylan's main e-mail address on their website informing them of the same details. I received no answer within 24 hours, and as of this writing still have not had any service conducted, no appointments maintained, and no effort by Gaylan to contact me to keep me updated.



They seemed like they would be great at the start, and I appreciated them contacting me initially so quickly and giving me a quote over the phone, but at best they have extremely poor customer service, and at worst just don't seem to care. Look elsewhere.
