Electrocardiogram
I want my patients to know that they always come first. Nursing, for me, was the end product of exceptional training, mentoring, tutoring, kind nudging and loving support through medicine. I have worked as an EMT, home care assistant, medical assistant, phlebotomist, EKG technician, radiation ambulatory care assistant, Registered Nurse and Oncology Certified Nurse. Immunizations
We strongly recommend vaccination for ALL of our patients unless there is a history of severe allergic reactions to vaccination. We consider vaccination to be safe for our immunosuppressed patients as this is not a live vaccine. Labor and Delivery
Linda Lee, who is currently going through chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer at Smilow, is a nurse in Labor and Delivery at Norwalk Hospital. She explains that continuing with her normal activities while maintaining her privacy was very important to her. “A few of my colleagues have gone through chemotherapy treatment. I knew that if I had a choice I definitely would not want to lose my hair. I felt like it was an invasion of my privacy. I planned to work, I remember thinking that I don’t want my patients thinking that my nurse is so sick, who wants a sick nurse taking care of you. For me it was a very easy decision.”

Bladder Cancer
“Immunotherapy means a lot of different things,” she says. For example, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved immunotherapy for use on only some cancers, including metastatic melanoma, lung cancers, bladder cancer and others. “These are new, expensive, drugs that are promoted with direct-to-consumer advertising campaigns resulting in patients coming in to their doctors asking for immunotherapy.”
Kidney Cancer
Brian French, MD, has over 10 years of administrative experience in healthcare and public education. He specializes in genitourinary cancer navigation and is dedicated to serving any patient diagnosed with prostate, testicular, bladder or kidney cancer. Brian earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Stress Management

MRI
Scott lived in New York for a year, where he met his current girlfriend. In 2002, the two moved to Los Angeles. Scott was ready for a new beginning, but melanoma was not finished with him. In 2003 he was getting really bad headaches and found himself suddenly losing his peripheral vision. He started bumping into walls and couldn’t keep his signature on the line when he was signing traveler’s checks. An MRI revealed a brain tumor.
Computed Tomography
Medical oncologists specialize in diagnosing and treating cancer. When they see a new patient, they begin with diagnostics such as CT scans, biopsies and medical history. They prescribe medications—including oral pills, intravenous and injectable medicines—that treat cancer. Medical oncologists prescribe treatments such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
Chemotherapy
Radiation can be delivered from outside the body (external beam) or by being placed inside the body (implanted seeds). Typically, a patient will visit the radiation suite multiple times to receive repeated doses of radiation over a specified period. There may be as few as 1–2 visits, or as many as daily visits for several weeks. Sometimes, radiation is combined with other cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy, to help remove more cancer from the body.

Our GE LightSpeed RT CT simulator produces high-resolution images for precise tumor marking. It was the first multi-slice CT scanner dedicated to radiation therapy.
Radiation Oncology
Dr. Jaffe grew up in Colorado exploring the Rocky Mountains. She earned her MD from Harvard Medical School, a Masters in Public Health at UC Berkeley, and completed residency training in Radiation Oncology at Stanford. Prior to pursuing medicine, she gained experience caring for students as a teacher in the Bay Area. This was also when she fell in love with Northern California. While she greatly enjoyed teaching, she knew her heart was in treating patients and the one-on-one experience a physician is privy to. She left California to pursue medical training on the East Coast, vowing to return to the Bay Area and serve this community. Joining MCC was a dream come true for her.

Skin Cancer
57-year-old Scott Davis grew up as an Air Force brat. His family moved around a lot, but it was during their time in Phoenix that Scott got the sunburns that would eventually catch up with him, decades later, in the form of an aggressive melanoma.
Dermatology
In 2001, Scott’s wife thought it would be a good idea for him to get his moles checked and made a dermatology appointment for him. The two were contemplating a move to New York and she decided to take a trip to Chicago to visit family while Scott went out to New York to get the lay of the land. While the couple was apart, tragedy struck. Scott’s wife died suddenly from a congenital heart defect.
