My wife and I ordered takeout (2 dinners) and when I got there they told me it was $35.00. Ok no problem, then the owners wife came out of the kitchen and said "you ordered extra onions so I have to charge you $1.10 extra". I told her yes but we took out the green peppers and she said it didn't matter. I felt that was not very fair. The owner was sitting there and I said that was not right and he hesitated then said I will return you $1.00. It's not the $1.00 it's the principle. To add insult when I got home there was no rice at all. The meal was terrible. I have been going there for years and this is the second time something has happened. I will no longer go to this restaurant as it seems that they can't be bothered. You can't even express your concerns without getting into a dispute.
Thanks for reading this...

Best Chinese in town (well, along with Shing Lee). Yen Ching has Szechuan dishes, as well as Contonese and Mandarin. Service has never been too slow or unfriendly, and the food is always delicious. Best Ma Po Tofu I've had in years. The red and gold decor is fabulous, as is the stamped tin (?) ceiling and artwork. Order the potstickers--well worth the wait of 15 minutes it takes the kitchen to prepare them fresh. I've tried many entrees here and have never been disappointed. The lunch special prices are unbeatable. Dinner is just a little pricey than some Chinese restaurants, but the quality and portion sizes are well worth it.

We've eatten at Yen Cheng for over 10 years and have always been treated wonderfully. The food is fantastic and the service is top notch. We get take-out on a regular basis and have never been disappointed withe food or service. Portions are healthy and reasonably priced. Top Chinese in Evansville by far in my opinion.

Yen ching is by far the best chinese food in Evansville!
But don't let the food fool you, this is not a fine dining experience! In my 5 years of living in evansville I have eaten at yen ching hundreds of times, and each time hoping to be treated better. The asian servers poor water too quickly, often spilling it on or around you. They don't greet you with a smile, but rather stare at your blankly, expecting you to know they want your drink order. And by the end of your meal, you could be waving your hands around & standing on your chair to get your check, and BELIEVE me, they will get to you when they WANT to get to you.
If you are willing to put up with being treated like an intrusion, the food IS great thought. Kate
