Overall

Horrible conditions. Do not feed the animals when in care for extended periods. My cat was there 2 weeks and they fed him one can of food. He ripped his stitches out on Saturday and they didn't know until Monday because they don't even check on them when they aren't open on Sunday. Cat had to be put down because of their utter uncaring incompetence and irresponsibility. Those vets are horrible and the staff worse. They basically charged me $2500 to murder my cat when his condition was 100% curable according to a secondary vet opinion. The secondary vet said "Elk Valley mutilated him during botched surgery". And suggested I Sue.

Puppy Got Deathly Ill After Being At EV

My mom sent her Jack Russell to Elk Valley to be spayed. Within 6 days the puppy quit eating and drinking and was vomiting white mucus-like foamy matter. After two days of this, I took the puppy to my dog's vet. After asking me about the symptoms and I explained about the surgery at Elk Valley, my vet asked me if EV had administered a Parvo shot, and/or any other vaccinations to the puppy. I told her they (EV) gave it a rabies shot. My vet did not say it, but indicated the puppy should have received other shots, and a Parvo shot before surgery. My vet said she suspicioned the puppy had caught parvo (somewhere) and asked if she could test the puppy. Upon my approval, the puppy was tested and it turned out positive for parvo. The puppy was very sick and weak. My vet gave me the options available for the puppy. She said parvo is very contagious between animals, the treatment is very lengthy and costly, and many times the dogs do not survive even after treatment. Because my mother kept this puppy in the house and on her porch since she got it, it had not been outdoors much and no other animals around....I am convinced the puppy contracted parvo at Elk Valley. My vet said it usually takes 5 to 14 days for symptoms to show after exposure. My mom's puppy started getting sick 6 days after being at Elk Valley. This was very hard and very sad. Make sure your puppies are vaccinated early. Parvo should be given before they are 14-16 weeks old. EV never asked about vaccinations, never gave any advice or warnings and never even mentioned Parvo, even after my mom called them back to tell them the puppy was sick and the symptoms. I ahev never heard anything good about EV and that is why, even though I live here, I use another vet that is 20 miles away.
