Dental Examination
The certification process involves a written examination and an oral examination covering all areas of information on which a pediatric dentist should be knowledgeable. Certification is awarded for a time-limited period and board-certified pediatric dentists must renew annually to maintain their board-certified status.

Teeth Cleaning
Fluoride Treatment
The first appointment will consist of a cleaning, thorough examination, and fluoride treatment. Most children need x-rays for a complete and comprehensive examination. These x-rays help us diagnose cavities, jaw abnormalities, cysts, tumors, and missing teeth that we might otherwise not be able to see with the naked eye.

Crowns
A permanent tooth has a good chance of being saved if the following steps are carried out. Recover the tooth, making sure to hold it by the crown (top) and not the root end. Do not touch the root. Rinse, but do not clean or handle the tooth more than necessary. Reinsert the tooth in the socket in the correct position making sure its not backwards and hold it in place using a clean piece of gauze or cloth. If the tooth cannot be reinserted, carry it in a cup containing milk or the patient’s own saliva. Because time is essential, see a dentist immediately. The longer the tooth is out of its socket, the lower the chance of being able to save it.
Dental Bonding

Braces
The majority of children’s permanent teeth come in a little crowded. Those permanent teeth are as wide as they are going to be forever, but your child’s jaw still has a lot of growing to do. Thus, those teeth have to find some way to fit into a small space. They will often come in one in front of the other or crooked. As your child grows and his/her jaw does, too you will notice this crowding alleviate and the teeth will start to straighten. Some children need to have teeth pulled or braces/appliances put on early to help with severe crowding, but that is something we will discuss with you if necessary.
