Update: I learned from the company (due to the reviews posted) that the hat took a long time to clean, which is why it took so long to get to me. The problem was that I was never informed of that. Communication broke down big time and left me feeling very frustrated.
The quality of the work is good, but the communication can make all the difference. Below is my original experience.
I recently had a terrible experience with Country Club Cleaners in Danville. I took in three jackets and a hat to be cleaned on Wednesday. On Thursday the clothes were ready for pick up, but the hat was missing. They assured me that I could pick up the hat the next day free of charge.
I went back in on Friday to pick up my hat and they didn't have it (yet, they assured me). So I left my number for a call back since we would be out running other errands. I was told I would receive a call in approximately 45 minutes. Two hours later we had to call them and they still didn't know where the hat was. By the time they called us back and we got the message they had closed so we had to wait until Saturday.
I called them in the morning to find out when the hat would be available and, again, I was told they would have to check and call me back. Again I was gone before the call came and they told my wife it would be Monday by the time the hat would be ready.
On Monday I called to make sure the hat was there and left a message asking for an immediate call when they got the message. 45 minutes later I called and talked to a person who apparently hadn't listened to the messages.
At this point the hat was ready, so I said: "I've had a terrible experience as a customer, what can you do to make this right?" The response: "Um" "I have a suit that needs altering, perhaps you could do that for me to help change my awful experience with your company?" "Uh, I'll have to check and call you back."
About ten minutes later I got the call that the owner of the store wouldn't do anything beyond comping me the $2 cleaning charge to make up for my horrendous experience so far. So, I'm sharing the story with the world.
My hat came back clean. But I shouldn't have to make a half dozen trips and at least as many phone calls in order to get a clean hat. I took it there to save myself the hassle of cleaning it myself - oops. If you care about being treated with respect and being contacted in a professional, timely manner, I would avoid Country Club Cleaners. They seem to have no idea how to treat an unhappy customer.
I understand mistakes, that happens, but own up to them.
