The company is also the largest manufacturer of educational furniture in the United States. Virco got started as a local supplier of chairs and desks for Los Angeles-area schools. The addition of folding chairs and folding tables helped expand its sales to a broadening customer base. Successive product lines were introduced, including a variety of upholstered stack chairs, banquet tables and mobile storage equipment. Items such as these have enabled Virco to provide complete furniture solutions for thousands of customers in the hospitality, food service, convention center and public facilities markets. The company s 560,000 square-foot Torrance, Calif. headquarters features a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, as does its Conway, Ark. location, which has more than 2,000,000 square feet of operational space.
