Not Impressed!

I went to ULTA for the very first time. When I walked in, I was greeted by a bunch of girls standing together. They looked at one another until someone asked if they could help me. So after minimal help I decided to look at high end skin scare. I was this area for 20 plus minutes. The girl who was helping ne went back to her group gossip. I was pissed because I really needed some advice. The products weren't cheap by any means. Still no help and my girl leaves for coffee.I'll go to the mall next time. Plus...I had money to spend, bitches!

Bad Management

I decided to write a review, because my new best friend at Austin Peay, recently applied. I wanted to tell her about my experience and maybe I can help someone else rethink working there. I was hired in June. They let me go in July (without notice). Others left around the same time and none of us knew that we were temporary. We were all told that we have nothing to worry about. I was hired as a part of a team to open the Clarksville Ulta store. I was told that my position was guaranteed/ full time with potential to advance in the company. The hiring manager relayed that I would be given decent hours. I was thrilled! i love make up and haircare products. I am a college student and was looking for a reliable job that could work with my schedule. As time progressed, I realized that the managers were lying to everyone. They were very unprofessional and disorganized. The managers were always talking behind people's backs. They would smile to your face and would make comments as employees walked away. I could not believe that they encouraged that kind of behavior. It became a belittling environment. The managers had no experience in the beauty industry. i had to ask the other girls on the floor questions, because the managers never knew anything about the product lines. The managers would roll their eyes or act stuck up. Some of the stylists left on their own will. They were lied to about the hours that they would be given. In the process they lost their prior clients. I don't know if they went back to their old jobs but I didn't think that if was right that they were lied to. One of my friends had her hair dyed there and it came out rather badly. She posted pics online. The head stylist tried to fix it and it still looked bad. She had to go to another store to fix it. i never had my hair colored there, but I liked the stylists and I did see a lot of great hairstyles. I was happy to be working with all of the girls there, setting up the store, going through training as a group, etc. During training, they brought in a team of experts that were very friendly. They made us all feel important. Before the store opened I overheard the store manager cussing and complaining about how lazy everyone was and how she couldn't wait to get rid of a lot of the girls. I thought that it was very unprofessional. The store manager always talked bad about the corporate office in front of the employees. I feel as though I was used and let go along with other girls that were promised a full time position. After I was terminated, I went back into the store several times (because its across the street from my job) looking to say hi to my old friends and hardly anyone was there. The store was very understaffed. It was pretty sad. The employees believed everything that management was feeding them about advancing. It was all a lie and I guess that a lot more girls left because of the bad management. The managers used the employees to accomplish what they needed done and then they treated them with no respect. I don't know why anyone would want to work at the store. The store manager is very mean. My mother was purchasing some hair products, last week and my mom asked at the register if they carried a dry shampoo line. The store manager's response was, "Do I look like I know everything around here? We probably don't carry it, but I would ask a stylist if I were you, before asking me at the register. The register is for people checking out." My mom bought a few items, but was afraid to go and ask a stylist about the dry shampoo. After that experience, my mom was glad that they let me go and that no one deserves to be treated that way. I'm not sure if the manager was having a bad day.

Where do I start. I am a former Ulta worker, What in the heck is wrong with these employees.. The store JUST opened, none of the women stop and greet anyone, their not tasking they are talking to each other. Might I add I've been in there 4 different times in the past month. Along with no greeting, they are so un helpful do not make contact or ask if I needed help. It is so sad I saw a girl standing there looking for help while the 2 workers just sat there. So no greeting, no help... then the cashiers have no idea what's going on I asked about the Philosophy purity cleanser if they had any she acted like I spoke some odd language. If you work in the beauty field you should know about purity. Also on one occasion of being rung up in was a manager who couldn't figure out how to give me my rewards pointes, I said the total was too high she said "well I scanned the barcode what else should I do" ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?!? AGHH!! I am so MAD!!! This is just so unfair to all the customers who walk thru your doors! Get BETTER management .
