A silicone implant is an elastomer silicone shell that is filled with a viscous silicone gel. The gel serves a purpose. If the implant has a leak the gel inside will be contained and will not leak out. Since the implant will not collapse in on itself after the leak patients are often unaware when it does happen. A panniculectomy is a surgical procedure that is performed to remove excess fat and skin that hangs over the lower abdomen. It is most commonly performed for patients who have experienced significant weight loss and desire body contouring. The procedure targets the pannus, which is the apron of skin that hangs down around your abdominal area.
Laser Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing applies thermal energy to the skin instead of needles like those used in microneedling. The cells that receive this energy peel and flake away in the days that follow, and new collagen and skin cells develop in their place. Laser resurfacing tends to affect skin at a deeper level than microneedling because of the intensity of the energy it delivers. This may mean a longer period for healing but also a more noticeable effect. Treatments are performed with either a topical anesthetic agent or conscious sedation depending on your needs.
