The Community Charter School

I have two children that have been at Community Charter since 2011. I love that this school allows my kids to express themselves in many forms. My kids get to have drama, art, music, and physical rec on a daily basis. My kids come home happy and continually grow in their academic performances. The school is also very open to parent involvement and encourages parents to volunteer with their children as much as they can. I feel that the teachers are very open with the parents and if you are willing to put forth effort in being involved in your child's education this school is a great fit!

My son briefly attended this charter school from August to October 2010. Although it was with high hopes that I put him in this school, it turned out to be anything but. There was anincident where one of the school's staff (who was not even my child's teacher) physically picked my son (6 years old) up & took him from upstairs of the school to downstairs to the principal's office. When this staff member wrote up the referral of what happened with my child, he omitted that he'd picked my son up at all! He also stated at the very beginning of the write-up that my son kicked him; as if my son just hauled off and kicked him. This staff member failed to mention that he was kicked in the process of carrying my son from upstairs to downstairs. Even while taking my grievances in front of their board (they're a corporation), they came back with a "lame-duck" consensus. Now I have to file charges against that staff member becuase their board is not fair! Good luck if you choose this school!
