Vaccination
In order to receive a license, your animal must receive a rabies vaccination by a licensed veterinarian after they reach three months of age, and if the pet resides in Tulare city limits the pet MUST be Spayed or Neutered. Where you live will determine which governing body you will receive your license from. Once you provide the office your rabies certificate and pay for the license, you will receive a tag to go on the collar of your pet. Because this is required by law, failure to comply can result in fines.
Behavioral Counseling
Nutritional Counseling
Cats and dogs that are significantly overweight or underweight are more susceptible to health issues and complications due to disease and injury. Obesity is a serious issue for many pets and can be a complicating factor in heart conditions, arthritis, liver conditions and other ailments. At Tulare Veterinary Hospital, our veterinarians can give you advice and tools to help your pet maintain a healthy weight. To learn more about our diet and nutrition services for dogs and cats, call us today at (559) 686-8544.
Comprehensive Examination
At Tulare Veterinary Hospital, we are proud to provide professional, comprehensive veterinary care for your pet in a compassionate environment. We offer everything from routine wellness exams to advanced medical procedures to keep your family pet happy and healthy, and one step ahead of common illnesses.
Heartworm disease is a serious disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes and, if left untreated can be fatal. Heartworm prevention is administered once a month either by pill or by topical application. Depending on the specific product you and your veterinarian choose for your pet, heartworm prevention medication can prevent other parasite infestations including internal parasites (worms) and external parasites (fleas and ticks). In accordance with the guidelines of the American Heartworm Society, we recommend all dogs and cats be given year round (12 months) heartworm prevention regardless of lifestyle.
Pain Management
We understand that hospitalization can be a stressful time for both you and your pet. While in the hospital, your pet’s health and comfort is a priority to us. Our hospital is equipped with advanced veterinary medical equipment to help us diagnose and treat your pet quickly and efficiently. Critical care patients and those recovering from anesthesia are closely monitored at all times. While hospitalized, we will utilize a customized pain management plan to help control pain so your pet is as comfortable as possible during his or her recovery.
Vomiting Treatment
Skin Condition and Allergy Treatment
Upper Respiratory Illness Treatment
Dog owners whose dogs are coughing or showing other signs of respiratory disease should not participate in activities or bring their dogs to facilities where other dogs can be exposed to the virus
Injury Treatment
Intestinal Foreign Object Removal
General Surgery: General (soft tissue) surgery is associated with the skin and tissue. Soft tissue surgery includes tumor removal, cystotomy, intestinal foreign body removal, splenectomy, C-section, spay/neuter, and more.
Our veterinarians are committed to diagnosing, treating, and monitoring your pet’s condition, and our goal is to keep your pet healthy and improve their quality of life. If your pet has been diagnosed with a chronic condition including diabetes, hypothyroidism, kidney disease, liver disease, or thyroid disease, our veterinarians can perform the routine monitoring needed to keep your dog or cat healthy.
Kidney Disease Treatment
For senior pets, we recommend biannual exams that include comprehensive blood testing, which helps in detection of diseases such as kidney disease, diabetes, liver disease, and thyroid disorders. By detecting these diseases as early as possible, we can begin treatment and help keep your dog or cat healthy.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Many of the pets that visit us on a regular basis need professional teeth cleaning. When bacteria irritate the gum line, the gums become inflamed in the early stages of dental disease causing gingivitis. Left untreated, this leads to periodontal disease which causes the loss of the bone and gingival support structure of the tooth and subsequent tooth loss. In addition, the bacteria are consistently released into the blood stream allowing for systemic infections, which can cause damage to internal organs, such as the kidneys, liver and heart. A dental exam is a part of any physical exam at Tulare Veterinary Hospital.
Orthopedic Surgery: Orthopedic surgery corrects musculoskeletal conditions such as degenerative joint diseases, knee pain, joint injuries and spinal conditions. Traumatic injuries such as broken bones and torn cruciate ligaments can also be repaired with orthopedic surgery.
Spaying and Neutering
We recommend spaying or neutering every pet, and we recommend spaying or neutering your non-breeding pet around six months. This recommendation may vary based on each individual pet. Please schedule an appointment to discuss spaying or neutering your pet with one of our veterinarians.
At Tulare Veterinary Hospital, we have advanced diagnostic equipment that can properly and accurately diagnose underlying conditions in your pet. Our hospital offers radiographic imaging and complete laboratory testing to screen for any underlying conditions that your dog or cat may have.
X-Ray
TVH is a partnership of a companion animal and dairy veterinarian located in the Central Valley of California. Students can tailor their experience to working on either side of the practice or create a mixed experience. The companion animal side consists of primary dog and cat patients with a full service hospital including routine appointments and emergencies as they occur during office hours. The practice is equipped with a surgery suite and dental equipment, digital radiography (including digital dental radiography), laser therapy, and large technical and support staff. Students can expect to practice their technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and drug calculations, as well as surgical skills including tissue handling, suture patterns, knots, and aseptic technique. The dairy side consists of pregnancy checks, consulting for dairy farmers, and vaccination/ear-tagging of calves for Brucellosis.

At this time we are seeking a Small Animal Associate. We have a large and diverse case load, with highly trained support staff to complete requested medical treatments. Out practice is equipped with a wide variety of diagnostic equipment such as; Digital Radiology, Digital Ultrasound, CO2 surgical laser, Cold Laser Therapy, Full IDEXX Laboratory, Large, fully-equipped Surgery Suite, and Digital Dental Radiology.
Microchipping
At Tulare Veterinary Hospital, our veterinarians strongly recommend microchip implantation for every dog and cat. Microchips are tiny devices that provide a permanent identifier that is unique to your pet. These safe and inexpensive chips greatly increase the chance of being reunited with your pet if they are ever lost.
At Tulare Veterinary Hospital, we believe that caring for your senior pet requires more than simply treating problems as they arise. By emphasizing your pet’s wellness throughout their life with a comprehensive preventative health care plan, we can significantly increase their long term health and comfort.
