Teeth Cleaning
Do you have heavy stains on your teeth, or perhaps periodontal disease? If so, an ultrasonic cleaning may be just the treatment you need to embark on a new level of oral hygiene. We can now clean
Fluoride Treatment
The most prevalent (AND PREVENTABLE) problem for infants is Baby Bottle Tooth Decay. Many parents unwittingly subject their children to long periods of sugar induced tooth decay by feeding their baby sugar in baby formula, juice, and even breastmilk. Babies who sleep with a baby bottle filled with any sugary drink or who breast feed for long periods as they sleep are highly susceptible to tooth decay. You can help your baby fight the early onset on cavities by bringing him/her to the dentist early. The dentist has preventive measures such as fluoride treatments which can help your baby develop healthy dentition.
Dental Sealants
Gum recession which exposes more of the roots of your teeth, there may be exposure for this reason and often painting a sealant on such teeth is all that is needed!

Fillings
Resin Composite
Here is an example of the quality and pleasing esthetics of today's dental filling materials. This patient called our office on a Friday morning after fracturing his tooth, and after about a 1 hour appointment that afternoon, left with a completely restored smile! The filling you see is a composite resin, which Dr. Janson placed during the appointment. In the near future, this tooth will need a crown to strengthen it further.
Veneers

Root Canal Treatment
Recently I had swollen glands in my neck. After visiting the medical doctor and many x-rays she thought perhaps it was my teeth. I went to the dentist, he x-rayed and found an abscessed tooth. He gave me the alternative of a root canal or an extraction. He was puzzled as he said the tooth had absolutely no decay and I have no filling in the particular tooth.

Deep Cleaning
Deep cleaning ', and consists of cleaning roots of teeth and pockets of gums around teeth. Scaling is often completed to treat various stages of periodontal disease or gingivitis and is sometimes the only way to properly clean teeth. When these pockets of gums get too large, it becomes very difficult, if not impossible, to clean them at home, so additional work is necessary at the dental office, and sometimes more frequent visits. Please rest assured that scalings are a VERY common dental procedure. As a dentist, I find it necessary to provide such treatment on an almost daily basis! Also, it is common practice to take xrays to look for cavities once per year. Cavities can begin to form in only one month's time, let alone a year!

Gum Surgery
Dental abscesses are commonly diagnosed as one of two types: dental abscesses (infection in the tooth) or periodontal abscesses (infection in the gums). Often, the 2 are very similar in appearance since both create swelling and pain in the gums. If you have a dental abscess, the tooth which is causing the infection is no longer alive, so you will feel no pain or swelling in the tooth, only in the gums around it. The infection is usually centered at the tip of the root of the tooth and a root canal is necessary to remove the source of the infection. Periodontal abscesses are infections which develop in the gums around teeth, often in teeth which have bone loss around them and deep pockets of gum which are difficult to clean. To remove this type of infection, routine deep cleanings and perhaps gum surgery to reduce the pocket will be necessary. If the tooth has had extensive bone loss to the point where it is very loose, sometimes it is necessary to extract the tooth, though I do not believe that is necessary in your case.

Braces
Other advantages which Invisalign has over wire braces include the limited risk of permanent white spots forming on the teeth and less chance for cavities and gum disease (you can still floss). Many patients like to spend an hour or two in the evenings without wearing their aligners. A completely added benefit for most patients is that they lose weight! Teeth Whitening
Inner struggle may ensue in which you weigh the advantages of cookie gratifacation with the thought of removing your trays and brushing. If you are interested in whitening your teeth, we can design your trays to double as bleaching trays and our office will throw in the bleach for ree.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Though many teeth which die do NOT discolore, the dark purple area of this premolar indicates that the pulp of the tooth has died, likely due to a cavity or other trauma. Such a tooth needs root canal or other treatment in a timely manner to prevent extensive infection and abscess. Once a tooth has died, it tends to become brittle and will eventually break down without proper treatment from your dentist. Since the tooth has died, it may not feel sensitive to the patient and is often ignored. As a dentist, I routinely see patients who have broken off the entire crown of a necrotic tooth! Though the tooth may still be saved (ie- see our Cosmetic Dentistry page) after it has broken off, it may also need to be extracted.
