very was searching for a place to stay in the Salem area earlier this week. When arriving on property, and trying to locate their front office, i was greeted by a not so friendly woman who i think is either the manager or maybe just an employee. This woman was remarking on my clothing as she deemed it inappropriate for her establishment. I can tell you it was a hott sunny day and i was wearing basketball shorts that fit me properly and an all white t-shirt as well as a boston redsox hat. I did not understand her view on me not being dressed the right way, and i viewed it as a racist opinion. At this point i desided not to purchase a room from this establishment. I was very dissapointed at the rude and self rightous attitude that this employeee had with me a paying customer. I would definitly not recomend spending a night, or spending your money at a place like this. I would rather go to a hotel where i get respect and curtious staff members because it makes 100% of a difference.

Just finished another stay at the Clipper Ship Inn. Our first stay was a few ago was when my borhters and I were moving my elderly Mother down to New Jersey. Our first impression years ago was a friendly staff, clean rooms, reasonable rates. Those qualities have not changed over the years and that's why we continue to return there. The Inn is close to many restaurants, Pickering Wharf and many historical site to see. Now our grown children stay at the Clipper Ship Inn when they visit family in Salem. Suzanne and her staff are GREAT! Thanks for everything and we will see you again next year

This was our first time in Salem and we enjoyed our stay at the clipper ship inn, we were greeted at the front desk by a friendly woman and salem the black cat. Our room was spacious, warm and clean. There was a Kurig stocked with all coffee flavors, and we received gift cards for the dunkin donuts across the street. This inn was close to everything about a 15 min walk into town which is very scenic or a 6 dollar cab ride. We will be booking next years stay at the clipper ship!

Overall

Great overnight stay. Comfortable clean large roomy. I would recommend for longer stays. Centralized for visiting the area. We stayed in a very large room with a queen bed, staff advised us all the rooms in our section were slated to be remodeled and fitted with king size beds. This will definitely make this a number one stop.

My wife and I stayed here for a Friday and Saturday night and enjoyed our stay. We had chosen this Inn due to the close proximity to downtown Salem and the good price. The room was immaculate and comfy. The area was quite with the Inn off the road a bit and they had a great selection of K-cup coffees and teas in the room! We walked downtown on Saturday no problem and enjoy 10% off at the Black Lobster around the corner for being a guest! Highly recommend if you're visiting Salem!

Overall

Very nice and very clean motel. We had a really pleasant stay. The location was good and it was easy to get to all the attractions. The staff couldn't of been nicer, they were very accommodating. Rooms were nice and spacious. The keurig was a nice surprise. Restraints were close by. Area was quiet. Ample parking. Great stay and half the price of some of the other places.

We have stayed there 3 times and are planning our 4th stay. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean. It was a nice quiet area with a few restaraunts close by. Only a 15 minute walking distance to town. We felt very safe walking to and from town as well as feeling safe on the grounds.

I first experienced the Clipper Ship Inn back in Nov 2012 while attending a festival. The hotel is in a great spot very close walking distance to Salem and if you're a walker like me...head over to the city of Beverly. It's great!

I really like the staff. I'm putting up friends of mine in a couple of weeks at the Clipper Ship and Suzanne hooked me up with a nice rate. Since I've stayed there before, I didn't even hesitate to think of the Clipper Ship Inn when trying to find a place for my friends and they've got GREAT parking! Thumbs Up!

I have a disabled daughter and when we come to Salem to visit family in Revere, we always stay at the Clipper Ship Inn. The rooms are always clean and the accessibilty to the handicap rooms ---is wonderful. I never have a problem taking things to and from my car to the room. There is never any noise or carrying on to disturb at any time. The people here are friendly and help greatly in finding what we can do for the day and directions to there. This is a great place to stay to visit a great town of history.

I stayed at the Clipper Ship Inn at Halloween and again this past weekend. I loved it. My suite was clean and came with a kitchenette. Whenever I needed something like extra coffee or directions they were so helpful. The bathroom was spotless with a large tub that I thoroughly enjoyed. This will be my go to whenever I am in the area visiting. Price is very reasonable. Thank you.

Overall

This hotel is really close to downtown, which is exactly what I was looking for. The room was much bigger than I expected; it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only bad thing was that the keurig in the room didn't work; luckily, there were dozens of Dunkin Donuts nearby to satisfy my coffee fix. Some of the mixed reviews made me hesitant about booking this property, but I am really glad that I did! I thoroughly enjoyed the two nights I spent here -- I would definitely stay again!

Overall

I am giving this 5 stars based on my experience, not based on the grading of the inn. For $100 for one night, I got a very spacious, quiet, comfortable and heated room in the dead of winter. Most of the area B&B's were either not accepting guests because they shut down in the off season or charging $200 or more. The person checking us in was very courteous and offered suggestions on places to go and getting into downtown which was only about a 15-20 minute walk. There are also several shops and simple places to grab pizza, sandwiches, etc within a 5 minute walk and otherwise lots to do in downtown Salem. If you are on a budget and looking for something simple, then this is your place.

This Inn is a fabulous value! The women at the front desk are friendly and extremely helpful. They daily provided us with maps and tips for interesting excursions. The rooms were huge with refrigerator, microwave and a Krug Coffee Maker! We really felt like we were coming "home" each evening. Is is conveniently located to the center of Salem as well as the roads leading out of town. I only wish we could've stayed longer. I can't wait to return! Hopefully, next time, it will be at Halloween! I cannot recommend The Clipper SHip Inn highly enough.

Room was clean and affordable. I've been here many times over the years and the staff has always been more than accommodating. It's a no frills hotel conveniently located within walking distance to all of the shops, restaurants and museums that Salem has to offer. Highly recommend.
