Rochester Pediatric Associates

I feel Rochester Pediactrics is all business and does not understand nor care about families. I was 11 minutes late for my son's first appointment, which was his routine 12 month check up. First off, it's my 2nd time visiting the facility (my 1st was scheduling the appointment) and it's located in a lot with several other professional offices on the same road with another lot full of medical offices so, it took me a minute to find the place. When I did, I have to get my son out and put him in his stroller. I walk through the door at probably 9 minutes past my appointment time but by the time the receptionist checks with e nurse, she informs me that my son can't be seen because I'm 11 minutes late and their policy is to reschedule after 10, even though I was never told is prior and they don't state that policy on their website. I feel like as a pediatricians office, they should understand how difficult it can be for a first time mom to get her infant there right on time. I called later and spoke with the office manager, my point being - I'm was already there, they could have seen him for the remaining 20 minutes of appointment time that was blocked off for him and I'll reschedule if I have more questions beyond that. How many times have you sat waiting in your doctors office waiting to be seen 10,20 minutes past your appointment time? How many times have you been 5, 10 minutes late to a doctors office due to your child's schedule? I work in an office that sees clients by appointment only, so I understand it's frustrating when clients are late and it throws a wrench in the plan but you accommodate them wi the understanding that their appointment time will not be the full 30 minutes allotted for check ups. The dr will only be in the room a total of 5 minutes anyhow, the rest of the time is a nurse taking history and giving vaccines. We wouldn't have wasted any of the precious doctors time. I will be looking for a smaller practice that understands families and understands that an infant doesn't care about schedules.
