Aetna: We are a participating provider with some, but not all, of the AETNA Healthcare plans. Some AETNA plans require a referral from the primary care physician. The patient is responsible for verifying we are in network with their plan. Patient is also responsible for obtaining referral from Aetna through the patient’s PCP. The patient is responsible for any copay and deductible amounts at the time of service.
Family Practice
Hector Gonzalez is a Physician Assistant that comes to our practice with over 9 years experience in clinical and cosmetic dermatology and over 11 years in Family Practice. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Sciences from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. Hector completed his Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Sciences from St Francis University in Pennsylvania which earned him a commission in the United States Navy. Prior to that he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management from Southern Illinois University.

Internal Medicine
Mrs. Baird, Certified Physician Assistant, joined Beaches Dermatology in 2006, bringing over nine years of dermatology experience to the practice. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in health care sciences and PA studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, where she graduated magna cum laude. She also received a Certificate of Proficiency (Specialty) in Internal Medicine. She previously divided her time between Texas and Colorado, but she has been living in the Jacksonville/Ponte Vedra Beach area for over 30 years.

Theresa Trick is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who studied her Doctorate of Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of North Florida. She received her Bachelors in Nursing at Eastern Tennessee State University and has been a Registered Nurse for 8 years. Ms. Trick has experience in neurosurgery, cardiology, and oncology and also has a degree in marketing from Florida State University. Ms. Trick's passion is in cosmetics, and she is happy to join the cosmetics team at Beaches Dermatology as our laser specialist.

Botox
Botox Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles to inhibit repetitive facial expressions, creating a smoother skin surface while eliminating unwanted wrinkle lines. The procedure is administered with a tiny needle and may cause minimal discomfort. Our patients have seen results as soon as a couple of days but can continue to improve for up to 30 days. Botox lasts on average three months but can last up to six months.

Cosmetic Dermatology
Andrea D. Distefano is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner specializing in Cosmetic Dermatology, including injectables and laser procedures. She grew up in Delaware and attended the University of Delaware where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in both Psychology and Nursing. After working in the Operating Room for over ten years, she decided to advance her education and obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati. Mrs. DiStefano is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is licensed by the Florida Board of Nursing. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Dermatology Nurses Association, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Morgan is experienced in complete skin check-ups, including skin cancer evaluation and treatment. She is skilled and knowledgeable about cosmetic procedures, including laser treatments and injectables, such as Botox and fillers.

Bao Yang is a certified physician assistant who has been practicing dermatology since 2019. She received a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She provides thorough skin exams and sees a variety of dermatology conditions including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, warts and molluscum. She enjoys creating a long lasting and meaningful relationship with her patients.

Insurance Deductibles - Many insurance plans have separate deductibles that apply to surgical procedures, labs, and pathology tests. Wart removal, injections, and destruction of skin lesions are considered surgical procedures by insurance carriers and deductibles can apply. We ask that the patient contact the insurance carrier if they have any questions as to whether a deductible will apply. We ask that patients come prepared to pay any deductible amount at the time of service.

Mrs. DiStefano is proficient in injectables and laser procedures allowing her to accommodate the individual needs of her patients through a variety of non-surgical, aesthetic treatments. Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion procedure is performed under the supervision of a certified professional. Patients can be confident they will be treated with the utmost care. The procedure is fast, predictable and painless.
Psoriasis
Julie is proficient at cutaneous skin cancer evaluations including diagnosing and treating basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, and melanomas. Julie utilizes the practice of dermatoscopy in all of her full skin evaluations. She also diagnoses and treats a wide variety of skin conditions including warts, acne, eczema, and psoriasis. She is skilled and knowledgeable about cosmetic procedures and can assist you in selecting a customized approach to reach your cosmetic goals.
