My family and I frequent this ...

My family and I frequent this place. We are there at least one a week. As a manager in an upscale restaurant, I know and expect good service. The service at Maurmi is okay, nothing spectacular, could be better and more efficient, but the staff is very nice and friendly. I enjoy the laid back atmosphere and that there is never a large, loud crowd or wait. The food is unique, authentic, and interesting. The specials board is always a fun read. I would like to try everything on the menu and special board, but I enjoy the items I order so much that I don't usually have room. I order the green tea for my beverage and start off with appetizers. The seaweed salad is much different from any other sushi restaurant, with an array of different types of seaweed and the crispy bok choy has a lot of flavor. I also enjoy the spicy salmon soy wrap roll and my absolute favorite dish is the angel hair pasta with ikura and uni It is something that I don't think I will ever get tired of. It is by far one of my favorite dishes I have ever had. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that it is open until late, giving me enough time in my busy schedule to go after work.

Marumi Sushi is a real Japanese restaurant. The owners/operators are native Japanese and the food is delightfully reminiscent of my earlier trips to Japan.I have travelled to Asia many times and to Japan about 40 times, but I consider myself neither an expert nor a food critic. My wife and I first went to Marumi Sushi about six months ago; we have been back since on a near-weekly basis. It is that authentic and that good.We like to try one or two of the starters - my wife's favorite is the Scallops and Mushroom saute - mine is the Crispy Bok Choy. From there we sometimes share a large Sushi combination dinner, which always varies from the one we had previously, a touch we like. At other times I take comfort in the Ramen (noodles in a soup base with several flavor options). On these occastions, my wife usually enjoys one of the fresh fish selections.I could say much more about Marumi Sushi, all good but I think you get the idea. And if you hear a lot of Japanese spoken here, there is a good chance much of it is being spoken by the clientele, not just the staff.

i have been a sushi chef for almost 3 yrs, so when i eat out i look for very traditional Japanese food. i helped my gf moved to Plantation this weekend and found this restaurant online. we went there that night i was amazed by the unique specials they had. most of the time the special are written on a board which is placed at the entrance, but if ur seated fast u cant really read the special so u miss out on them. but at Marumi they bring a board with all their specials to your table for you to read. that night i had "beef tongue with miso sause" it was delicious, reminded me of a french stew. then i had "fried silver fish" which was so nice and clean, went very well with some sake. the next day i requested that we go there again.that night had one of their special where you get to pick out a fresh fish and you decide what you want to do with it or you can leave it up to the chef, we requested for sashimi and for the chef to decide what to do with the rest, the fish was awesome.
