- In 1979, Kidspace Children's Museum officially launched at the California Institute of Technology. A community project of the Junior League of Pasadena, Kidspace addressed a critical educational need in the San Gabriel Valley: increased access to the arts, humanities and sciences for children. Volunteers created and presented a prototype interactive exhibit, "Making Senses," designed to stimulate the interest and curiosity of children by featuring robotics and neon light displays. Ten thousand young visitors, their parents and teachers participated in the first exhibition during its six-week run, a significantly larger turnout than the 2,000 visitors expected. In 1996, the Kidspace Board of Directors adopted a strategic plan to grow the museum from a small local attraction to a major Southern California cultural and educational destination. In 2002, Kidspace closed its former site at McKinley School in Pasadena and began renovation of the historic Fannie Morrison Horticultural Center buildings at Brookside Park in the Arroyo Seco. The new Kidspace features world-class exhibitry and 2.2 acres of outdoor learning environments designed to encourage children to discover the excitement of learning while engaging in the creativity of play. At Kidspace, children can unleash an earthquake, feed giant bugs, craft art through nature and climb raindrops 40 feet into the air. With endless possibilities to create, discover and explore, no two visits to Kidspace are ever alike.

Fun children's museum with a range of activities for young toddlers to older kids. On hot days, my kids love the shaded stream and water features. The physics forest is another favorite.

Kidspace is such a fun museum for the little ones and it's close proximity and great parking options make it even better. Yes, it is a little on the pricey side, but I promise it is worth it! I would definitely make sure you bring a towel and a change of clothes because no child can go there and not be utterly drawn to all of the water play (including a river).

Great way to spend your day with the kids. An annual membership is the way to go if you visit often.

I have brought my son to the Kidspace Museum a couple of times now, and he truly enjoys coming here. They have really unique activities for children to have fun with and learn from.

This place has so much for children of all ages that it's really worth the yearly membership. There's a special room for babies and toddlers with toys and climbing mats just their size. Preschoolers will enjoy the tricycle-riding track while older kids will get a lot out of the science-themed sections. In the summertime, the little brook that runs in back is great for water play. (Bring water shoes as shoes are required). We've attended great birthday parties here, too. The cafe has surprisingly decent food.

My 11 month old son absolutely lit up as soon as we got inside the entrance to Kidspace. The beautiful mosaic tile archway is a perfect way to get into the "explorer" mood! What I loved most about this place is that every element is baby/kid friendly. I didn't have to tell my little one "no" to touching/playing/grabbing at all! The early childhood room and music time were a big hit--and the emphasis on child-guided exploratory play was awesome. My son adored all the water play--be sure to bring extra clothes, sandals, and towels--for everybody! Even the little cafe is pretty good--healthy options and decently (though still slightly over-priced) priced food. I would say this is a perfect way to spend a day with your kids.
