I contacted Albright's at 11:00am and they have someone call me a short time later and say they will be out between 60-90 minutes later. No problem, I'm sure they're busy. He arrives in the time-frame and takes a look. I told him I know the system is almost 30 years old and may need to be replaced. The tech told me he has nothing to do with that and a short time later tells me the capacitor is bad and he can replace it for $316 out the door. I hate throwing money at a 30 year old system, but need AC in the heat with my young child and he said he has nothing to do with replacing a unit. I agree to pay and the part is replaced. The tech tells me that the new part is in but the fan on the condenser won’t come on, but to turn the system off for an hour and then it will work. I ask what happens if it doesn't and he said to call him and it would get taken care of. He left just before 1:00 pm, and a couple minutes after 2:00 pm, I turn the unit on, the fan comes on but doesn't seem to be blowing very cold. I left the system run along with 4 ceiling fans on the first floor on high and a window AC unit on the second floor on high for over an hour and a half and the temperature only dropped a few degrees just under 80 in the house. I called the technician back who said he's not in the area, but he'll send another tech out. I waited for two hours, because I'm sure there's plenty of work in this heat, and without hearing from anyone or seeing anyone, I called back. At that time the initial tech says, well we will be out sometime tomorrow for sure. I explain that I will be working out of town tomorrow, and that doesn't help my family tonight. A few minutes later I receive a call from the second tech who says he would be here by 11:00 pm, a mere twelve hours after my initial call for emergency service. I fully understand being busy, but I also understand taking care of customers. I guess gone are the days when service actually meant something to those in the service industry.
