Overall

USIG installations installs flooring for Home Depot. I live in Kissimmee, Florida and bought Pergo laminate flooring from Home Depot. When I was told that USIG would be installing my flooring I looked them up online and read the reviews. There are literally hundreds of negative reviews about them and on the Better Business Bureau website. In fact, USIG had a rating of D- and they are no longer accredited with the BBB. That's how bad they are.
After my flooring was installed I sent USIG and Home Depot photos of the shoddy work that was done in my house. USIG responded and said they would take care of the matter but Home Depot is going to send out a trim carpenter to redo the work. I had the district service manager from Home Depot in my house and he saw the floor. I asked him if he would want it in HIS house and he said "no".
The guy who installed my flooring does not know how to make the proper cuts. He doesn't know how to make 'bullnose' cuts on the rounded door frames and he told me he didn't know how when I asked him on the first day of the installation. My house has rounded corners on every bedroom and bathroom door frame and the cuts have to be precise. There are a few ways to make cuts for bullnose corners but this guy didn't know how. The proper cuts are called 'cope' cuts and should have been done with a coping saw. This guy used his table saw and only made 45 degree angled cuts. So so wrong.
He laid down the planks just fine but every cut he and his girlfriend made is incorrect. Baseboards, quarter round, thresholds were all cut wrong. He got tinted silicone on my newly painted door frames and on the new flooring. He got clear silicone on my bathroom faucet handles and on the bathroom floor. The girl sat on my microfiber sofa with her dirty pants while she was on her cell phone. After she petted my dog she wiped her hand on my sofa and left a white dusty hand print on it. What the hell?

These two people are not trim carpenters and know nothing about how to make proper mitered cuts. Not everything is supposed to be cut at 45 degrees and even I know that. The ends of the baseboards and quarter round were cut straight instead of being mitered.
Home Depot needs to find a different flooring installation company and USIG needs to hire only people with carpentry skills. Stop hiring people who claim they know what they are doing because it only backfires on you.
I like Home Depot and have spent a lot of money there but seriously, they need to stop using USIG and USIG needs to wake up. I am not the only unhappy customer you've had. You have more negative reviews than positive ones. Maybe it's time to do something about it.
