Value City Furniture

After shopping around at what seemed like a million furniture stores, Value City seemed to have the best looks, price, and comfort, and they pride themselves in lifetime quality, which I can't vouch for at this point. But I certainly hope it was worth it.

While in store, purchasing our living room set, confirming all our information with the salesperson, etc., we informed her that we were in a 4th floor apartment. She said that there was no problem.

After a $120 delivery charge and 2 weeks later, the delivery men show up at our door and tell us that they can't deliver past the third floor. They told us our options were to get a full refund or that they would take it to the third floor, and we'd have to find a way to get it up the last flight of stairs ourselves. (a sofa, and a large chair) My husband and them "discussed" this, including a discussion with a dispatcher and a supervisor, explaining to them that we were told that the 4th floor would not be a problem for delivery.

Meanwhile, we were also getting furniture delivered from a different store, and they happened to show up about the same time. My husband let them in the door, and offered them cash if they would take Value City's furniture up the last flight of stairs for us, since the Value City guys wouldn't deliver it. They happily responded with a yes, which perked up the VC guys' ears. They responded with an overwhelming willingness to also accept the cash for the delivery, even though my husband had just been told by the supervisor on the phone, AND by the VC delivery guys that it was against VC's policy to deliver past the third floor, period! There was no way around it, there was not even an extra fee we could pay to have them go up the extra set of stairs. But once the cash was involved, they were more than willing to break policy.

Bottom line is, it makes me wonder how many people they do this to in a community where all you see are tall apartment buildings. Just a hoax to give the driver a little extra spending cash? After all, who's going to turn down their own furniture being delivered?

Whenever I buy furniture, I come to this store, and I have been in the DMV area for over a decade. The customer service here is exceptional, I'm always greeted with a smile, and everyone is always pleasant and courteous. I highly recommend Value City Falls Church for all your furniture shopping needs. Where else can you go for friendly customer service, no hassles and quality furniture at such valuable prices! The store managers are the friendliest I have ever encountered! Thank you for all your help Dewey. Most grateful.
