“I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Foley! He has changed my life! I’m so grateful for him. It says a lot when your primary care doctor at the time highly recommends him to one of her own patients. This all started over 4 years ago with the birth of my daughter. I broke my tailbone during labor and my spine hasn’t been the same since (2 herniated discs, bulging disk, and neck issues just to name a few). I had almost given up all hope that I would ever feel even somewhat ‘normal’ again when his name was brought up. It couldn’t have been better timing. Ear Infections
Problems may begin with birth itself, often our first trauma, as the infant’s skull pushes against the birth canal. Some methods use to ease a difficult birth (forceps, vacuum extraction, and anesthesia), although necessary, may add to the trauma. Infants with cranial distortions may present with such problems as infantile colic, inability to suck or swallow, frequent spitting up, chronic ear infections, or even delayed development. Some problems, such as learning disabilities, may not surface until a later date.

The primary differences between an osteopathic physician and a chiropractor are their levels of training and the scope of their practice. A chiropractor is not a licensed physician and has not completed residency training in a hospital. The scope of chiropractic practice is defined by statute as “including the diagnosing and locating of misaligned or displaced vertebrae and, through manual manipulation and adjustment of the spine and other skeletal structures, treating disorders of the human body. The practice of chiropractic does not include the use of drugs or surgery, or the practice of osteopathy, obstetrics, or any other branch of medicine”.

It is important to realize that even the “normal” processes of labor and delivery and of growth and development are stressful events for infants and children. We believe that it is valuable, therefore, to treat babies as soon as possible after birth, even if the birthing process was not considered to be “traumatic”. We also recommend osteopathic treatments every 6 months throughout childhood, when their bodies are changing rapidly and dramatically.

Our physicians have a different philosophical approach to health than typically seen in conventional allopathic settings. All of our patients are provided nutrition and lifestyle recommendations in addition to an osteopathic manipulation treatment at each visit. Physical Therapy
The New England Journal of Medicine published a study in November 1999. In the study, researchers looked at how well OMT works to treat low-back pain. Patients were divided into two groups. One group got standard treatments, such as hot and cold packs, physical therapy, and drugs. The other group received standard care plus OMT. Twelve weeks later, patients in both groups felt better. But those in the OMT group used less medication and less physical therapy. That meant they had fewer side effects and lower health care costs.
