Provided by SuperpagesIn a community littered with taco stands and shops, few places have considered the value in offering a higher class of Mexican cuisine that what commonly comes in a plastic bag and Styrofoam box. But when Viridiana ViRi Rubio and her husband JT saw the empty space in 2009, they knew what to do with it, and Huapango was born. Expanding the menu to include breakfast specials, everything served is made from scratch .ViRis carnitas are slow cooked for over six hours, in a simmering sauce that includes orange and lemon zest, jalapenos, and yellow chilis, resulting in a deeply flavored and tender meat that is unparalleled. With a light section for healthy eaters and vegetarian options, along with some of the best sandwiches and tortas on this side of the border, there is little reason to wonder why many of the customers eat here several times a week or even several times a day.

- Here's my review: The good news is it's on a busy street corner. The bad news is, well, you get the idea. There's not much to be done about the bus stop out front or the weed-surrounded dilapidated tractor next door, but faster and more attentive service would help to distract customers. The beer menu is lengthy and several are offered in pint drafts, more would be better. Chips and salsa are complimentary but the cheesy one is oddly reminiscent of velveeta and picante sauce. Entrees were colorful and flavorful and food is generally good. The biggest challenge for Huapango's is the street corner location and the best remedy would seem to be service that is louder and faster than the street. Here's my review: The good news is it's on a busy street corner.
