Athens Montessori offers a unique foundation that inspires a life-long love for learning. It celebrates and encourages the different learning styles and individual interests of each child while strengthening their confidence and academic excellence. Athens Montessori School is proud to have offered this alternative education to the Athens community for over 40 years. We provide guided self-learning in a creative, child-centered environment designed to unlock a joyful attitude toward learning. Our programs are designed to shape minds and enrich lives through a child-centered, hands-on curriculum that encourages children to create, explore, and discover at their own pace. By empowering children to learn through direct experience, we spark curiosity and unlock a sense of wonder that leads to a life-long love of learning. Montessori education is spontaneous, =stimulating, and it strengthens academic excellence, self-confidence, and practical life skills.

Formal classes are offered by AMS and other organizations. Following the interests of our students and the rich resources available in Athens, offerings vary each year, but may include: Athens Montessori Singers, Ukelele Club, Piano, Drama, Yoga, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Drumming, Rhythm Rocks, Math Counts, Eco Club, and Improv

Associations

Our staff have distinguished themselves not only in the classroom, but as Montessori teacher trainers for Montessori Teacher Institute (MTI), and as frequent workshop presenters at Montessori and GAYC conferences. Each class is led by a trained Montessori teacher with a full-time assistant. Most of our teachers have twenty years or more experience and enhanced teacher constructed resources for their students. Specialized instruction weaves music, Spanish, creative movement, art and physical education into the Montessori framework.
