Overall

I have been going to these Vets for many many years. They are all excellent! They are kind and gentle with you're pets, and seem to care about every animal that they see.

I have had to put to sleep 3 of my dogs over the years due to cancer, or some other bad illness, and they are wonderful and Dr Drake morn's along with you. They may be a bit pricey, but it seems that the prices are high every where. These guys are great! I am sure you will love them like I do!!

Friendly place

Awesome vet doctors, very friendly very knowledgable. Staff is friendly too, they try to know pets on a first name basis. Surgerys are very pricy, maybe even over priced, but I feel comfortable leaving my pets there knowing they will be cared for.

What can I do to protect my pet? Heartworm disease is preventable! Dogs should be tested annually and before starting prevention. Provide heartworm prevention 12 months of the year. Prevention is the safest and most cost-effective option, but treatment is available for dogs (although costly and lengthy). Cats should be tested before starting prevention and re-tested as the veterinarian deems appropriate. There is NO treatment in cats, so prevention is critical and the only means of protection.

Frequently, after therapy, the quote is heard: “Our young animal is back” or “she acts like a puppy again.” – Pain relief is provided in just a few minutes of therapy, and that alone improves the quality of life for your best friend.

Southpaw Animal Health adheres to the manufacturer's recommendations for vaccinations. We do offer 3-year Rabies vaccines. Not all diseases that we vaccinate against require direct contact with other dogs. For example, Parvovirus and Leptospirosis are in the environment. It’s always better to prevent a disease than to treat one.

Because of their vast experience, our veterinarians rarely outsource their patients with more complex illnesses and injuries to specialists, they treat most of their own patients in-house.

Laboratory Services
For puppies and kittens, we need to see them on a more frequent schedule during their first year of life. For pets over age 7, we recommend exams and blood work every 6 months to help us detect diseases and issues before they become a problem.
X-Ray
We don’t focus only on the simple stuff. Yes, we do vaccines – you can’t live without them and they’re very important to prevent both debilitating and deadly diseases in your pet. But we also offer in-house diagnostics such as bloodwork, digital radiography, and ultrasound; modern therapies such as companion laser therapy that has proven effective for chronic inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, and complex surgical procedures.
